You can't always choose or change your circumstances, but you CAN choose and change your attitude, and attitude affects how we remember the experience.

In today's episode, I want to share something exciting with you. The Atlanta Braves, my favorite baseball team, just won their division for the sixth consecutive time! Now, I understand that not everyone may be interested in baseball, but hey, it's my podcast, and I get to talk about what I want.
What impresses me the most about this year's Braves team is their exceptional hitting. While their pitching may not be as strong as before, their ability to hit the ball out of the park is outstanding. In fact, they are on track to break the record for the most home runs in a single season. Watching them play has been an absolute blast.
This got me thinking about how baseball, just like life and business, has its strengths and weaknesses. The Braves understand the importance of focusing on what they are truly great at and letting the other aspects support their strengths. If they were to prioritize improving their pitching at the expense of their hitting, it simply wouldn't work. They need to lean into their strengths.
And the same concept applies to you in your own life and work. It's crucial to identify your biggest strengths and embrace them fully. What are you truly excellent at? What sets you apart from others? Lean into that and let it be your foundation. Of course, it doesn't mean neglecting other areas, but rather, allowing them to fill in the gaps and support your strengths.
So, take a moment to reflect on your own unique talents and abilities. What makes you exceptional? Once you've identified your strengths, harness them and channel your energy into doing exceptional work. Remember, just like the Atlanta Braves, success comes from focusing on what you're best at and letting everything else support you.
I hope this little reflection inspires you to embrace your strengths and pursue excellence in your own endeavors. Remember, do good work and watch the magic happen.

In this part of the conversation, I discuss the concept of Ikigai, which is a Japanese concept that helps people find purpose and meaning in life. Ikigai is represented by three overlapping circles: the circle of concern, the circle of influence, and the circle of control.
Most people tend to invest a lot of time and energy into their sphere of concern, which includes various external factors and issues they can't control. This includes things like climate change, food sources, and news events. While it's natural to have concerns, it's essential to shift our focus towards our circle of control, which consists of things we have direct control over.
Our circle of control includes our personal life, health, relationships, work, and mindset. By spending more time and resources in our sphere of control, we can have a more significant impact on our own lives and achieve meaningful outcomes. This means dedicating around 75-90% of our time, abilities, and resources to our circle of control and reducing the time we spend on our circle of concern.
By doing this, we can focus on things we can directly influence and let go of things that are beyond our control. Ultimately, the goal is to do good work and put our efforts into areas that have a direct impact on our lives.
So, the next time you find yourself getting caught up in concerns that are beyond your control, remember the concept of Ikigai and shift your focus towards your circle of control. By doing so, you can find purpose and meaning in your life and make a real difference in the areas that matter most to you.
