In this video, I put out a message to the parents of those students who will be going through the JOSAA counselling, requesting them to keep certain important points in mind.
There is a very small minority of families where there is a genuine concern regarding the specifics of the engineering education that the students will receive. For the vast majority of families, however, the primary concern is with the economic upliftment. I address both groups of families.
The primary message is that the parents should give their full-on support to their children as they are going through this extremely important and delicate stage of their life. They should not try to impose their will on their children while at the same time being cautious of the practical realities.

In this video I discuss the biggest mistakes students make with regards to making notes, how they can overcome these mistakes, and use notes to make the best use of the time they spend studying.
I start off by discussing the problems students face in the absence of a note taking habit.
The biggest mistakes students make are:
1. Not making notes at all while reading books or attending lectures
2. Only underlining, highlighting or taking margin notes
3. Relying exclusively on notes from tuition teachers and coaching teachers
4. Borrowing notes from friends
I suggest some ways to overcome these mistakes.

Ondřej is the creator of Symbolic Python (SymPy) and is currently working on the interactive Fortran compiler (LFortran).
In this video, he discusses his work set-up. He currently prefers working on a Mac. But he has been a long-time user of a PC with Ubuntu. His editor of choice is NeoVim and he also works with VisualStudio.
