The Shays and Whiskey Rebellions demonstrate that the US government, from the beginning, has shafted both veterans that fight its wars and the "little guy" that it has always falsely promised to protect against the rich and powerful. While the Revolutionary War promised redemption from "taxation without representation," it has never made good on the promise. But it sure has created the illusion that it has.
