Today I am doing an update on Hazel, the Beit Alpha Cucumber that I planted back in March for the Single Seed Challenge 2021. This cucumber started out very slowly, but now that the weather has finally become consistently warm, she is starting to really take off! She is loaded with flowers now and even has a few cucumbers growing with one very close to being big enough to eat. I want to encourage you to pick one seed, ANY seed, and get out there and grow it!

Today I want to talk about how my squash plants were able to survive the attack of the Vine Borers and became over-achievers in my garden. I planted them as early as I could so that by the time the vine boring moth arrived, they could withstand the attack. Then, as soon as I saw the first moth, I began using Sevin Dust on the length of the main stem of the plants. This has kept the vine borer larvae at bay and helped my squash plants survive to produce more squash than we can eat!

I messed up dinner so badly! Tried using a leftover roasted pork loin, and ended up with a sad mystery meat, affectionately known from here on out as Hairball Soup. It's downright embarrassing, but I'm posting this video to let everyone know that even when a Granny has spent decades in the kitchen, things can go horribly wrong. I suppose my only excuse is that I had other things on my mind, mainly kids going back to school and growing up too fast. #gulfcoastgranny

In this video Granny honors her childhood idol,
Elvis Presley, by making a breakfast dish based on Elvis' favorite peanut butter and banana sandwich. These breakfast bars are chewy and moist but also pack a nutritional punch loaded with protein from the peanut butter and cashew nuts, and the goodness of oats.
Granny tells of going to an Elvis Presley concert in 1976 when she was just a young girl. It was one of the truly magical moments of her childhood.
