Honey Hut Construction Phase 7 Staining – Painting 7-30-2017 In this video I show the 7th phase of construction, staining the building. I started early when the temperature was 52 degrees Fahrenheit because the bees were not very active. It took about 11 gallons of stain to get the job done. I had to run to the store because I didn’t have enough stain to finish the job. I used an airless paint sprayer which really cuts the time it takes to get the painting accomplished. We call this structure the Honey Hut. It will be a more than just a winter shelter for the honeybees. In the future we plan to have continuous monitoring of the hives collecting data on the hives throughout the year. I also hope to create an observation hive with internal cameras and sensors.
