Natiruts formed in 1996 after a barbecue in which lead vocalist Alexandre Carlo proposed the idea of popularizing reggae in Brazil. The band changed its name several times in its early stages, beginning with the name Nativus, which was already taken, then to Os Nativos, then to Natiruts Reggae Power Ao Vivo, which was later shortened to Natiruts.
Natiruts has released six studio albums and five live albums during a career spanning three decades. "Nossa missão" was released in 2005.
The Congos are a reggae vocal group from Jamaica which formed as the duo "Ashanti" Roy Johnson (tenor) and Cedric Myton (falsetto), later becoming a trio with the addition of Watty Burnett (baritone), and have been active on and off from the mid-1970s until the present day. They are best known for their Heart of the Congos album, recorded with Lee "Scratch" Perry.
Burnett quit the group, soon followed by Johnson, who embarked on a solo career. Myton continued to record as The Congos with various other musicians until the mid-1980s.
In the mid-1990s, The Congos reformed, with Myton and Burnett joined by Lindburgh Lewis, several albums following in subsequent years.
The album "Heart of the Congos" was released in 1977. It is noted as being one of Perry's masterpiece productions of the Black Ark era.
Electronic and organic music based on dub and its aspects, this is Dub Majestic. Started a few years ago by musician/producer Caio C. Bernardes, the project became a duo with the inclusion of Carlos Costa. Both develop strong and textured sounds, in addition to the participation of great names in national dub/reggae on vocals such as Dom Lampa (Julgados/Dubalizer) and Louiz Medeiros (ex D'ucasco). Mixing electronic beats with live guitars and bass was the starting point for Dub Majestic, which translates the entire urban context of their music into the fusion between direct and live.
Pentágono was formed in 2001 with 5 MCs and a dj. In 2004, they competed in the Video Music Brazil 2004 in the category of best rap video clip with "Na Moral".
