I’m a retired Aussie expat living in Thailand with my Thai ladyboy girlfriend. Our Video Blog covers the typical things we find ourselves doing as we build our life together living our life in the suburbs of Bangkok. My fiancée is a post-op ladyboy and we have been together since 2009. I finally moved to Thailand in September 2016 because the 8 years of travelling to see her was taking its toll. We hope we will give you a unique perspective on Thailand life and lifestyle as we go about our daily life and sometimes explore the Land of Smiles. You may have seen on Facebook that I had a new exhaust fitted to the Kawasaki Vulcan S and yes, I've made some modifications as well, but the YouTube videos run about a week behind my social network pages. Anyway, this is where I go to pick up the bike with the new exhaust fitted.

I try to avoid the cost of living videos because it will be different for everyone here. Every part of Thailand will have a price relative to each location and population density. We live 23km west of Bangkok, but it is still part of the Bangkok province, but Bangkok’s area will also have relative costs. Today I am just following up on a recent question from our video comments where the person wanted to know how much it costs to live our lifestyle in the Bangkok suburbs. The cost of living in Thailand will be different for everyone, and it will all come down to how much of a western lifestyle you choose to live..

For those people not familiar with the provinces in Thailand, Pathum Thani is the province just north of Don Mueang airport, just north of Bangkok. The plan that looks most promising is to team up with Chanya's uncle who lives and works in Pathum Thani and buy a large enough house for the 2 families. I realize that this might seem odd to most westerners unfamiliar with Thai family, but as we say "This is Thailand". Our first stop here is a relatively new housing village on the north side of Bang Bua Thong Road.

For today's Rideout we took a run northeast of Bangkok to the Wang Ta Krai Waterfall and Khun Dan Prakarn Chon Dam in Nakhon Nayok

As mentioned in the last ride video with our group, Koi suggested a ride to Nakhon Nayok for some sightseeing and swimming. The ride was long but relatively uneventful and the sports bikes raced off ahead leaving Bob and me to take a casual cruise out to the waterfall. We found a food vendor there and everyone tucked in for lunch. After another short walk, we decided to make camp and go for a swim. Sorry guys, we didn't get the "biker chicks in bikini's" video, but it was a refreshing swim at least.
We got a good downpour while there and when the rain abated, we then rode on to the Khun Dan Prakarn Chon Dam. Someone mentioned this dam is the longest concrete retainer dam in the world. I had to look that up and found that it is the biggest dam in Thailand. It is also the largest and longest roller compacted concrete (RCC) dam in the world. We got another good downpour while we were there but after an hour it stopped so we then headed home.

We had a saying back home like 'close enough is good enough' and now after living in Thailand for 4 years, it seems this is the norm for most things that need fixing.

One thing that does get a little frustrating is the way Thai's seem to cut corners with things that should be dealt with more seriously. One constant fix-up is the air-conditioner where it needs to be serviced constantly due to algae buildup in the pipes. I try to explain that the pipe angles and diameter are wrong, but that doesn't concern the service technician. He just cleans the pipes and charges me a minimal service fee. Today was another typical situation with car servicing. Last time it had a rough idle, Chanya's dad took it to his mate to fix. they changed one fuel injector and it was all working again. This time I took the car to a proper service garage and they replaced the other three injectors as well as the spark plugs. Now the car runs smoothly and has more power!
