. . . . . ...this was about 3 minutes of footage that I edited and good lord I had no idea how just how many times I said "javelin" until after I went back and was working on the recap video LOL
It seems that after every boss battle theme I write, I feel like I can’t upstage it or write another that parallels it, and yet somehow I managed to write another boss battle theme that I think is rather good. “Knavish Shanty” is the boss battle theme for a duo of powerful bandit/pirates. Because of the whole pirate thing, I tried to make this song true to a name, which is to say, I tried to make it as much of a shanty as possible. The first part of the song (25 seconds ish) is an obvious homage to Donkey Kong Country’s “Gangplank Galleon” theme, and like the latter song, it starts off uppity and then transitions into a more serious and dramatic tune. The next section is a remix of sorts of the “Battle at Sea” theme, and similarly to that song, this tune is written in f# minor (or A Major for certain parts.)
Because it’s also a boss battle theme, I decided to take a few parts from my normal “Boss Battle” track and recycle its chord progressions and idea of using bass solos to fill in some of the transitions.
My favorite part of the song is the section starting at 1:45. For reasons I can’t really explain, it feels the most maritime-y to me, and I also like the viola melody.
The section starting around 2:30 recalls some of the accordion parts from the beginning of the song, an idea I consciously took from “Gangplank Galleon,” a song whose later harmonic ideas recall the melodies established in the song’s introduction. This part then transitions to another segment which is similar to the part at 1:45.
All in all, the song is pretty spontaneous and sort of goes wherever it wants. It has a lot of parts thrown in together in a very frankenstinian manner, and despite this, it somehow works. I like it. If nothing else, consider it my love letter to Donkey Kong country (although I don’t think I’ll ever write anything as utterly groovy as “DK Island Swing.”)
The software I used to visualize the song is an awesome program called "MIDI Trail." You can find more information about it here: https://osdn.net/projects/miditrail/releases/

I guess the guy who voiced Hayatemaru didn't get the memo; he pronounces "Hyoma" differently than Rin does. Speaking of Rin though, she might actually have the best voice acting of the cast...

...and that's actually fine. But I think one thing that IS definitive is that we don't need any more remakes of Langrisser 2. (Or 1 for that matter.)

The first thing I notice is that I have to take down a level 68 Altemuller... wtf game? He ends up killing Sieghart due to bad RNG (gg game) but I try the scenario again and he becomes my ally instead. We join forces to fight the greater evil, which is apparently Bozel's legions of demons led here by Rag.
Also Varna dies again lol

Hey hey hey, he's breathed his last! This map is familiar to those of you who've played Langrisser 2; it's scenario 21 (Velzeria's "port") and cleverly, this game inverts the spawn points here. It's the PLAYER who's starting on Velzeria, and the ENEMY starting on the ship! Note:
There's ONE minor difference in the routes here. In Route H (which you can see in this video), Jessica casts Meteor on Thorn once he regains his senses. By comparison, in Route G, she doesn't do this because she's brainwashed. The little dialogue with Jessica that you see at the end of this scenario does not occur in Route G. Instead, Thorn just comes up to you and is angry that you killed Hawking, then leaves.

Scenarios 13-14 are mostly unchanged from the Imperial Scenarios 13-14, so I decided that I would do some selective editing here and just include the parts here where there are significant divergences. So there's not much here from Scen 13-14. Scenario 15 though is completely unedited because it's a completely new scenario.

It's GBA Fire Emblem designed by people who don't understand GBA Fire Emblem. Also, please note that I don't mean this as an attack against the developers; I sincerely hope they improve for their next effort, and don't mean to demean them as people. For the sake of an honest review though... I have to say that I can't recommend this game.
Dark Deity is a playable game, but there are much better indie SRPGs to check out.
