After scoring the NES and SNES classics Nintendo released a few years ago (along with the dissapointing Sony PS1 classic) I just had to get one of these game & watch smb systems. In this video we take a look at the various g&w systems in my collection, compare with the new g&w smb system, and wrap things up by tearing it down and discuss what's been reversed engineered so far by fellow internet electronics enthusiasts. Oittm has generously sent me yet another product to review and it's just in time for the icy cold weather and snowfall we are receiving. This time I take a look at their 450W/950W portable ceramic heater which retails for $46.99 to thaw my frozen fingers just in time for the holidays. So how does this tiny heater stack up to Jack Frost? Pros: - Very small for the amount of heat it can pump out - Heats up very quickly (less than 10s to nice and toasty) - Safely turns off if it's knocked over - High and low heating modes for gentle warmth or fast defrost - Works as regular fan as well - Plastic body remains cool to the touch during use (but don't touch the front metal grill which will be quite hot) - Construction is very well made Cons: - Chemical smell during first use (wears off after about half an hour of use, so I'd advise letting it run in a well ventilated area before use) - Button labeling doesn't quite make sense, translation is a bit off (though this is not much of an issue as it's easy to guess what each button does) So after using this guy for the past few weeks I can unreservedly recommend this for those with cold rooms that need a quick heat. I will personally be using this for my desk to keep my typing in the coldest of weather. So it has been a long time coming, my crappy alarm clock is just about on its last legs and it constantly resetting itself recently was the last spoon that broke the dog's face ... I think that's how the old saying goes. Anyway, ICStation kindly provided me with a few parts recently including a gorgeous serial 8x32 LED matrix (http://www.icstation.com/lattice-breakout-module-8x32-matrix-screen-ht1632c-p-6982.html) so I just knew it was finally time to program and build my own custom digital clock. In this video I show off the nearly completed prototype, with scrolly slick animation goodness to boot and only slightly cryptic user interface. In the next part I'll build a nice case for it (or maybe just leave it a skeleton clock) and solder a pcb to make it a permanent installation on my bedside nightstand.
