There are many different cryptocurrencies that are stakeable allowing you to earn passive interest from them and then reinvest those earnings to compound interest. I personally stick to BTMX, TRX, and Hive when I’m staking, let me explain why. 00:00 Intro 02:03 Earning From Staking 04:30 Tron Staking 11:43 Hive Staking 16:17 BitMax Staking Subscription 21:56 Outro While there are many cryptocurrencies you can stake, there are few that have performed very well over a long period of time whereas BTMX and TRX have continued to appreciate in value from when I originally bought them and have yielded very high returns. ## Tron – 7.30% APR TRX yields me an average of 7% or more depending on the super representatives you vote for. This is a great yield and because TRX is widely used and has a lot of use cases for passive income and gambling, I feel it will be safe to continue earning more with my ~$500 investment. I don’t like Justin Sun and how he ruined Steemit and bought up DLive and continued its poor practices, but luckily the token isn’t directly affected by his actions and many in the community also do not support him and while still supporting the tokenomics and vision behind Tron. It’s a bit complex or rather the UI is though. Essentially the process you need to take is staking your Tron via freezing it, then voting for super representatives that offer the highest APR or whatever you’re looking for, and then claiming that regularly and repeating this process. Note that Tron you freeze will be locked in for 72 hours, but after that, you can unfreeze it and do whatever you want. You also want to stake enough to cover your transaction costs and that way you will spend nothing on gas fees. ## Hive – 3.4% Staking APR + 4.9% Curation APR The Hive I have was duplicated over from my Steem account and given I can earn 3.4% APR just from leaving my Hive powered up, it’s a great way to passively earn. On top of that, any curation I do earns me about 4.9% APR too. The great thing is that my Hive power is also set to auto claim every 2-3 hours which effectively compounds interest at a much faster rate. So, while you do have to wait 13 weeks to fully powerdown and unstake your Hive, you will earn a fairly decent payout very passively. You don’t have to wait the entire 13 weeks though as you get 1/13th of your powering down funds each week for 13 weeks until you’ve claimed all of it. While Hive pays a much lower APR and has more restrictions around unstaking compared to the other two coins, the compounding effect and boost to my curation is definitely worth it given I regularly post on Hive. I may have treated it differently if I wasn’t using Hive, however I recommend everyone use it. You can also take advantage of communities on Hive to earn more on a second layer like LeoFinance which I discussed in my previous video and blog post. You can also setup auto claim via many different projects, here is one - https://peakd.com/autoclaim/@hive.autoclaim/userguide ## BitMax – 21% APR BTMX is the exchange token for BitMax that you are able to “subscribe” to the platform in order to earn from their exchange’s fee-sharing program where you get a percentage of the fees earned from trades on the platform for that day which averages out to about a 20% APR which is very high. They pay out in USDT which means you have to trade that back into BTMX and subscribe it to continue reinvesting and compounding earnings, but you earn quite a bit. I’ve already earned $70 from my $500 investment which is phenomenal. You do need at least $5 worth of crypto to trade, so you do have to wait until you have enough to then buy BTMX or you can pay a large fee to convert any crypto of any amount into BTMX. This isn’t worth the fee unless you convert “dust” which are tiny values that you could otherwise do nothing with. There are many other places you can stake, but the safest way to stake is anywhere that you have full control of the private keys and usually that’s on a separate wallet not connected to any exchange. With so many hacks, bankruptcies, and now supposed crypto liquidity issues on exchanges, you should never leave your crypto on exchanges or any platforms other than your own wallet. Let’s talk about Celsius & Solend. This is my 524th episode/article. I put a great deal of work into this content so if you find it valuable, please do like, share, comment and subscribe! Recently Celsius halted all withdrawals and transactions from their platform. I know this feeling all too well with Cryptopia locking up over 1 million DOGE a few years ago for me that I would never see again. Some people like myself had to learn it the hard way, but through our experiences hopefully others will learn the easy way. I’ve said for a long time that to avoid any issues around ownership and truly embrace decentralization you should own your crypto in your own wallet. This means no lending or anything of this nature, it’s not safe. Time and time again we have seen even massive platforms having to halt transactions. Binance recently paused Bitcoin trades and withdrawals for just a few hours. Coffeezilla did a good breakdown of the Celsius collapse here: https://youtu.be/1nVG8PF4ECU - the main he touches on that I wanted to note was that Celsius had it in their terms and agreements that you were always lending to them and then they were lending out your lent cryptocurrency. This means they had special ways to get around actually having to collateralize your cryptocurrency and made it extremely risky with leveraged lending that is continually lent through multiple channels for the highest, riskiest yield possible. Recently after Celsius did this so did Babel Finance, a similar lesser known entity that does crypto lending etc. Luckily, Nexo is talking about taking on their accounts, but we will see what happens. With the market in a free fall one has to wonder what will happen to Blockfi or Crypto.com who has invested way too much of their money into marketing while their CRO token has plummeted nearly 90% from its all time high. While most cryptocurrencies are suffering, those leveraged with debt may all come crumbling down and the money used to back that may be lost too. The reason I’m writing this is simply another reminder that we need to keep our crypto in wallets that we control, preferably hardware wallets. We do this to avoid any possibility that your crypto could be misused or that anyone else even has access to it other than you. It’s not even just lending platforms, sometimes it’s the way entire chains operate. This can be seen with the latest happenings on Solana’s blockchain with the proposal to give Solend Labs emergency powers to take over a user’s account in order to liquidate their 170 million dollars worth of SOL. Since this would result in 46% on chain slippage, they want to do it via an exchange. The only way to achieve this would be to literally take the users funds and do it themselves so they are voting on whether or not to grant full emergency powers. Anything that touches lending is very risky and this is so clear to see that even though this is related to lending, the entire chain itself is at risk and willing to give 100% centralized powers over to a Solana entity. This shows how risky anything related to lending can get and why you should stay as far as away from lending crypto as possible. The more closely a cryptocurrency is tied to lending, the riskier it is. We already saw this clearly with Terra’s LUNA and the Anchor lending protocol, so it should be clear why something like Solend isn’t going to be any safer. Don’t learn the hard way, go through the extra effort to secure your crypto. For me it cost almost 100K to learn this lesson, I hope for you it won’t cost anything. It’s always made me cringe to see popular finance gurus recommending people use platforms like Blockfi to earn interest on their Bitcoin without explaining that you could lose everything because of it. Hey everyone, I wanted to share another update on my dividend portfolio and my passive income investing journey in stocks and crypto. We’ll be covering my recent cryptocurrency & stock purchases, tokenized real estate, lending, and all my forms of passive income. I cover the recent stock buys I went through, share my portfolio breakdown updates, and share my thoughts on the current market. My goal for 2020 was to earn $75 worth of dividends on average per month and now I’m well past that when crypto is included. I am currently making about $100 a month from passive income. This is lower than before, but I’ve made some more conservative changes and dramatically shifted around my crypto staking portfolio. About $634 of yearly profits are coming from stock investments, about $320 is coming from cryptocurrency passive income, $115.54 is coming from crypto tokenized real estate, and $72.50 from music royalties. My portfolio is up from $16,018 one month ago to $17,577 now. Keep in mind, I also sold out of half of most of my crypto investments and made a lot of changes to my crypto portfolio. I continued to sell out of some of my riskier investments and invested in safer lower-yielding investments. I invested a little over $1000 and earned $57.83 from stock dividends, about $9.30 from crypto real estate, and $42 from crypto lending & staking the past month. In total, I have earned over $100 from crypto and over $190 from stock dividends. Now I don’t recommend you trying to copy my trades because the timing was important, but I do recommend you put in the time to research and track what you want to purchase and this isn’t financial advice. Previously I was saving my money for a bit to build up a nest egg and have spent the last couple months dollar-cost-averaging into the market again. My recent stock sells were: half of my agriculture stocks, some Fiera Capital stocks, and all my Alaris Royalty corporation stocks. I’m locking in gains and keeping my portfolio diversified by doing this. Selling Alaris was just to minimize risk as I’ve been cutting back on Finance stocks. I bought more Canadian Natural Resources, Suncor Energy, RioCan Real Estate, Power Corporation of Canada, and Inter Pipeline Limited. These have great price opportunities and I’ve been increasing my portfolio weight on energy and oil. For crypto, I’ve made dramatic changes to my portfolio. I’ve sold all my RFND tokens because I can’t rely on a one-person team when payouts were automated and not working. I wish him all the best though. I sold a good portion of my TRX because I think Justin Sun is holding it back spending crazy money on acquiring and destroying good projects like Steemit and DLive. I sold out of KuCoin because it wasn’t a good investment. I sold more than half of my BTMX because the price doubled, and I always get my original investment back if possible. Now it’s all gains going forward with my BTMX. I ended up doing the same for ARPA, FET, and TROY too as they all had huge run-ups in value. I acquired KNC and XTZ to stake and earn from those coins. When it came to lending, I had to do a lot of testing first. I bought and sold NEXO after learning all the sketchy stuff they were wrapped up in, but still kept like $200 on the platform. I also put $200 into Celsius Network and Blockfi. I will review all 3 in another post soon though. I bought a little over $100 USD worth of DAI, USDC, USDT, TUSD, PAX, and GUSD in order to properly diversify and test out all these stablecoins. The different exchanges offer different APRs ranging from 6% to 8.6%. Lending is really ideal because they require people taking out loans to be over collateralized thus protecting you and the platform. My crypto coming in is 100% earned and I will be using a portion of it each month to pay for expenses, one portion will be put into savings, and the rest will be invested into my crypto dividend portfolio. The rest of my crypto is held as savings in the form of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and a few other coins, but I'm not including that in this portfolio since I'm not generating dividends with them. *In my haircut stock example I said 80*4=$240, but I meant the lower end of my estimate of $30. So 30*2*4=$240 which is what I was using for example.* My next big move will be into crypto tokenized gold. Please leave your recommendations and look out for that in the next update or two. Den.social has pulled back a bit but is still producing a decent amount of rewards. Cos.TV’s rewards are inconsistent and either high or near zero. Crypto has continued to go down and be very bearish, but I still feel that you can make a good amount and I believe this will show that you can genuinely make a modest living even in a more bearish market. However, as I write this now, we saw a massive in the crypto market today across the board. This is my 19th report and the more data I acquire, the better the results become. My top consistent earners lately are Read.Cash, Noise.Cash, Publish0x, & LBRY. It seems my earnings have really declined ever since the crash leading me to believe more and more that there is a notable correlation there, however I also want to post more. I am very excited and hopeful for the future with Torum’s token going live soon, Flote launching a token, Yup starting to become more popular, Pocketnet becoming more popular, there is much to look forward to. I will be interested to see the day when and if I can finally get access to my funds again on SoMee as well especially given they said they would have everything working again during the month of July.
