Xmas time. I wanted to make my wife a jewellery box that wasn't too deep and with contrasting colours. Luckily the hardwood from our old decking is a mixed species so there is some colour variation. The size of the box was governed by the timber as I worked around nail holes etc to get some clean looking pieces. The hinges i used I found in a very old sealed packet amongst all my random hardware. I think they are ones my grandad bought for me when I was in high school and was making him a small display cabinet for his spoon collection. He would always buy an extra packet of things 'just in case'. I began this project in my 'free' time after work in the workshop and did the final assembly and finishing at home where I have no workshop.
