Today I review the microphone used in the white house and on stages around the world, the Shure SM57. This thing sounds great on electric guitar, and sounds great for spoken word once you add a pop filter. It also does an excellent job at background noise rejection.

Today we look at a collaboration between Sennheiser and Apogee, the Sennheiser Handmic Digital. This is a Lightning & USB Dynamic microphone that sounds very similar to the Sennheiser E935, but with an A/D converter from Apogee. According to Allan Tepper from ProVideoCoallition.com, this thing actually has a hardware limiter as well, which is very impressive to see.

Today I review a portable interface from MXL, the Mic Mate. It has an always on +48v phantom power supple, 3 gain settings, and a decent noise floor. However, I think there are better options available in a similar price tag. MXL-MICMATEXLR To USB Preamp for Condenser Microphones
