The Linkey Block is a true 14.4 volt professional battery designed to power Monitors, Wireless Receivers, LED Lights, and other accessories. It's pretty dang useful!
In this Linkey Block Battery review, we attached it to a number of different accessories including our Teradek Wireless System, SmallHD Monitor, and multiple cell phones. It's a great V-mount battery alternative. We've been saving our V-mounts for powering our camera, and using the Linkey Block to power our camera monitor. It's a great portable battery solution that we're definitely glad to have in the kit for whatever 2021 brings!

So, ARRI Skypanel VS Litepanels Gemini, which are the best LED Video Lights? These last few years have seen many advancements in LED lights for film. The ARRI Skypanel s60 came out in 2015 and the Litepanels Gemini in 2017, so LEDs have been used more and more on sets. Compared to other lights, LEDs can be preferable because they can put out a lot of soft light and consume less power than standard fresnel or tungsten light fixtures.
For instance, you can run four ARRI Skypanel S60's or five Litepanels Geminis on one standard 20amp circuit, compared to just one 2k soft light. And they both have similar output.

This week we're comparing the original Ready Rig GS camera stabilization vest to the Ready Rig Pro Arms upgrade. We hooked them up to our Movi Pro gimbal with the ARRI Alexa Mini. In our Ready Rig GS Review, we cover the differences. The Ready Rig GS vest really changed the game for gimbal operating, enabling us to operate for much longer without a break, but the Pro Arms upgrade adds a lot to the setup.
The Ready Rig Pro Arms upgrade increase the carrying capacity of the rig from 30 lbs to 40 lbs and also can be extended from 23” to 37”. (The GS are fixed). The Pro Arms also come with 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threads on each arm that can be used to attach accessories such as a monitor or lights, which can be really useful if you're operating with a smaller crew. So is the Ready Rig GS with Pro Arms upgrade the best camera stabilization vest?
The Ready Rig can be used with the Movi Pro, the Ronin gimbal, and other similar gimbals. The base model costs $1999 and adding on the Pro Arms is an additional $600, making the total price for the set $2598.
We overall preferred the Pro Arms upgrade to the base level Ready Rig GS camera stabilization vest. But the Ready Rig GS offers capable stabilization and gimbal support for sure.

Today we have some tips for submitting to film festivals. It's every filmmaker's dream to have their film accepted by a major film festival, but festival directors will often have hundreds of other films to go through. How can you make your film stand out and increase your chances of getting in? We have 8 helpful tips on how to submit to a film festival and how to get in to a film festival.
A great way to get accepted into a film festival is to look at local film festivals. Sure a local festival isn't at prestigious as Cannes or Tribeca, but being from the local area will greatly increase your chances of being accepted. It will get more eyes on your film and you may meet some local filmmakers you'd like to collaborate with.
One of the biggest mistakes many filmmakers make when submitting to a film festival is having their film be too long. If you're submitting a short film it's best to keep your running time under 10 minutes if possible, including credits. Festivals have hundreds of films to watch, and if your film is too long or doesn't grab attention right away, the festival will most likely skip over your film and move on. So make your cut as tight as possible and speed up your credits!

In our 100th Episode, we're taking out the ARRI Alexa Mini, loading it up with the ARRI Look Library and shooting over 20 Looks or LUTs to compare them side-by-side with some 4K Test Footage. We also film 3 mini scenes to showcase our favorite Looks.
If you haven't used the ARRI Look Library, it's a powerful set of 87 custom high quality LUTs that you can load into your ARRI cinema camera. Each Look has 3 different intensity levels. We shot all of the Alexa Mini Test Footage at the "2" intensity which is the middle ground.
By using the ARRI LUTs in the Look Library you can change the color in your scene to match the theme or feel that best fits your film or commercial. The library includes some basics like High Contrast, Warm, and Cold. But it also has some more interesting color grades like Day for Night, and Bleach ByPass.
We filmed the standard ARRI Alexa Rec 709 LUT and then over 20 different Looks from the collection so you can see them side-by-side in this comparison. These custom LUTs are a great way to get the Hollywood Film Look before even getting into the editing suite.

In this video, we release our ARRI Alexa Mini Test Footage in 4K! We shot this sample footage on the Freefly Movi Pro Camera Gimbal, and this time we put a slight grade on the footage as well. Can you tell the difference between the 4K and the 1080 footage? What do you think about the slow motion on the Alexa Mini? Please let us know what you think in the comments.
We filmed at night with only a LitePanel Astra 6x for some shots. Everything was filmed at 48fps in 3.2k in camera and uprezzed to UltraHD 3.8k in the edit.

Frame.io is a great way to collaborate with remote editors and clients, and the C2C workflow only makes it better.
