Jackie Sparrow | Megabat | Little Red baby eating (Flying-fox) (Fruit bat) Johnny Depp's foster Bat
?BLOG post - http://www.batsrule.info/2015/10/rehab-jackie-sparrow-little-red-megabat.html /\^..^/\ Australian wildlife Megabat preemie little red rescued. sponsored by Johnny Depp. in rehab at Australian Bat Clinic & wildlife trauma centre. Queensland AU. /\^..^/\ This species of Megabat, flying-fox hangs in a different way from other mainland species. The larger species tend to hang an arm's length apart; however, the little reds tend to clump together so they may hang in groups of 20 or more animals on an individual branch. The animals are nomadic and difficult to track, as they tend not to live in urban areas. Little reds are very likely to be affected by the same factors that have seen the grey-headed and Spectacled Megabats, flying-fox listed as threatened, that is, the destruction of foraging areas and roosting habitat. /\^..^/\ BLOG - http://www.batsrule.info/search?q=jackie+sparrow /\^..^/\ https://www.facebook.com/BatsRule https://fb.me/JackieSparrowBatsRule

Pademelons are small marsupials of the genus Thylogale. They are usually found in forests. Pademelons are one of the smallest of the macropods. The name is a corruption of badimaliyan, from the Dharuk Aboriginal language of Port Jackson.

The little red flying fox (Pteropus scapulatus) is a species of megabat native to northern and eastern Australia. With a weight of 280--530 grams (9.9--18.7 oz) it is the smallest flying fox in mainland Australia (the others being the black, spectacled and grey-headed flying foxes).

Flying foxes are very important pollinators and seed disperses of many native plants including Eucalyptus, figs, bush apples (Syzygium spp.), bush plums (Terminalia spp.), paperbarks, guerrillas, and fruits of many palm species. The seeds of some plant species (particularly those with white and green fruits) may only be dispersed by flying foxes, meaning that these plants rely on flying foxes in order to successfully reproduce.
It has been estimated that a single flying fox can dispense up to 60,000 seeds in a single night.
Flying foxes are also important for nutrient regeneration and nutrient cycling within the ecosystem. Not only do they provide large quantities of fertilizer to the system, but they create gaps in the canopy which enables other plants to compete more effectively. For instance, some trees shade ground-dwelling plants and shrubs, preventing them from obtaining nutrients, light and rain. By creating a gap in the canopy, flying foxes enable these plants to obtain more sunlight, rainfall and nutrients, thus promoting a more diverse plant community, with cascading benefits for many other animals and plants.

#CityofLogan Flying Fox carer Leanne Robertson is helping not only local wildlife but the NSW Wildlife Community by caring for orphaned baby Fruit Bats affected by bushfires. Fire has destroyed vast flying fox habitat and has had a dire effect on population numbers.
With the support of Logan City Council’s EnviroGrants, Leanne has created a soft-release site to support #FlyingFoxes as they integrate back into local bat colonies.
Council's EnviroGrants are opening soon. Find out more https://bit.ly/2twXA4m
