This Day 78 years ago, march of German war prisoners took place in the Garden Ring, Moscow.
About 60.000 captured Nazis, including 20 generals and 1,200 officers, were escorted through the capital of the USSR. The convoy of the prisoners of war was headed by Friedrich Wilhelm von Paulus, the General of the Sixth German Army which was encircled in Stalingrad.
The convoy was escorted by riders armed with unsheathed backswords and guards with rifles. It was followed by flushing vehicles that were emblematically sweeping away the dirt of the Nazis from the streets of Moscow.

Highlights of Russian Military Operation in Ukraine on June 30, 2022
Russian Armed Forces hit enemy's positions in Yunakivka bordering Russia in Sumy region.
In northern Kharkiv region trench fighting continues. As a result of Russian Armed Forces' missile strike on Kharkiv, two territorial defence locations destroyed with at least 100 servicemen killed.
Lysychans'k oil refinery clearing completed. Ukrainian units retreated to Zolotarivka and trying to gain a foothold along the last retreat route from Lysychans'k. West of Lysychans'k, allied forces advance on Seversk from two directions: from the oil refinery to Verhn'okam'yans'ke and from Mykolaivka to Spirne.
Fighting continues on the southern outskirts of Lysychans'k near the rubber products plant and Bila Hora.
Chechen units crossed Seversky Donets near Pryvillia from Stara Krasnyanka and assault the settlement together with DPR People's Militia.
Wagner's PMC units focused on breaking the defence near Bakhmut and eliminating the enemy's personnel and equipment at Pokrovs'ke-Klynove line.
In Dnipro region Russian Armed Forces launched attack on AFU's facilities in Dnipro and Slavhorod.
Missile strikes destroyed the foreign mercenaries' location in Mykolaiv and the munitions depot in Shevchenko.
Russian Armed Forces withdrew from Snake Island: due to continuous shelling from Odessa region, further defence of the island is suicide.
At present, the island is empty and the Ukrainian side is not ready to occupy it.
In case there is no Russian Armed Forces response, restoring the control over Snake Island will let AFU free up most of the resources deployed in Odessa region.
Most of them will be sent to the area of active combat operations in Soledar direction, while another part will most likely be used for the planned counterattack in Kherson region.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has put the BBC presenter in his place after he said Russia is again an "innocent lamb."
The Russian minister stressed Russia is the way it is.
"We are not ashamed to show that," Lavrov said.
- Does that mean Russia is an innocent lamb?
- No, Russia is not an innocent lamb.
Russia is as it is, and we are not ashamed to show ourselves as we are.
- Regarding the British who were recently sentenced to the death penalty.
In the eyes of the West, Russia is responsible for the fate of these people.
- Listen: the eyes of the West do not interest me at all.
I am only interested in international law.
According to international law, mercenaries are not combatants. Therefore, what you have in your eyes, frankly speaking, has no meaning.
Also, Lavrov has reiterated that Russia has not invaded Ukraine.
Russia has announced a special military operation.
______
Democracy is when you agree with us, or else! - Kind regards, Egils Levits
President of Latvia says Russians living in Latvia must take "the correct, democratic position" as it pertains to the crisis in Ukraine, OR be democratically stripped of citizenship.
Watch to the end for next-level logic.
Fun fact: Latvia is one of few "democratic" countries that withholds citizenship from a minority group who were born there.
This category of people is called "non-citizens", which is different from "residents" (newcomers).
It largely applies to the older generation, who didn't manage to learn Latvian after the collapse of the USSR.
Just in case you wondered why Latvia supports the fascists in ukraine.
