PLEASE NOTE: WE ARE CURRENTLY STILL IN SELF ISOLATION BACK IN AUSTRALIA. This is day 5 of our thru-hike along the Appalachian Trail. We start this video around mile 28, a quarter of the way up Blood Mountain. We get to the summit on the most perfect of days. The weather is warm, the sun is out and there’s barely any wind. The views are incredible and it’s such a surreal experience to be somewhere we have watched many videos on when we were preparing for this thru-hike. The descent from Blood Mountain is much harder than it was when we we going up. We ended up getting lost on the mountain down a steep pathway, but we are able to retrace our footsteps back to the trail. We eventually make it to Neels Gap for a hot pizza and a resupply before heading to our next camp site (mile 35). In late October, we decided to complete one of Victoria's best walks known as the Great Ocean Walk (GoW). The trail begins in Apollo Bay and ends at the popular location of the Twelve Apostles. This trail had been on our bucket list for a while now and we were extremely excited to be able to attempt this trail just before high season and with mild weather. We had a gorgeous morning full of sunshine and experienced our first TRAIL MAGIC. We also get our first full open view of the gorgeous Georgian mountains. Our hike today was filled with day hikers (it’s Saturday), so we didn’t get to do heaps of filming out of Woody Hap because it was extremely busy! We had a very cold night at Lance Creek Campsite (mile 24) but slept quite well. Day 5 will take us over the highest mountain in Georgia- Blood Mountain.
