Denver's DOUBLE Standard: City Officials Fly to Texas, Reject Illegals with Open Arms
Denver introduces its revised Asylum Seeker Program, pivoting away from expensive emergency sheltering to provide more sustainable support for migrants. Under the leadership of Mayor Mike Johnston, the program now prioritizes housing, food assistance, and job training over short-term shelter solutions. Initially accommodating about 1,000 people, mainly those already in shelters, it aims to reduce the city's financial burden, which had escalated to projected costs of nearly $180 million annually. This move comes as Denver, like other cities, adjusts its strategies in response to ongoing challenges in managing the influx of migrants, emphasizing more efficient, longer-term aids than temporary shelters.
An executive at Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation (GNF), is accused of "syphoning" more than $10 million from donors, the grassroots arm of the BLM organization said a court filing this week.
The suit is against executive Shalomyah Bowers, the foundation itself, Bowers' consulting firm and unnamed individuals.
Bowers was hired by BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors in 2020 to help run the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation (GNF), an extension of the Black Lives Matter grassroots organization, the suit said.

The U.S. Department of Justice is threatening to sue Texas over its new immigration law, Senate Bill 4, set to take effect in March 2024. This law empowers state police to arrest individuals suspected of illegal border crossing and aims to dismantle sanctuary city policies. As Texas asserts its right to safeguard its borders amidst federal inaction, the DOJ claims the state's measures violate federal jurisdiction established in the landmark United States vs. Arizona case. The conflict underscores a broader national debate on immigration enforcement and the roles of state versus federal authority. Texas Governor Greg Abbott staunchly defends the state's actions, highlighting the law as a necessary response to the federal government's perceived failure to secure the border. This standoff illustrates the escalating tensions between Texas and the federal government over immigration policies and border security.

San Francisco's iconic Union Square is facing a retail exodus as 17 stores, including Anthropologie, Office Depot, and Amazon Go, have closed or announced closures due to rising crime, theft, and changing shopping habits. As more people work from home, the demand for retail spaces has dwindled, leaving several businesses vulnerable to the retail apocalypse. The closure of these stores further contributes to the decline of downtown foot traffic, exacerbating the challenges faced by remaining retailers.
The pandemic has accelerated changes in consumer behavior, with many opting for online shopping over brick-and-mortar stores. In addition to these changes, downtown San Francisco has seen a surge in crime and drug abuse, leading to an increased police presence during the 2022 holiday shopping season. The closure of these stores signals a downward spiral for the once-bustling shopping district, as businesses struggle to remain profitable amidst skyrocketing rent and ongoing crime issues.

In a surprising shift in illegal immigration patterns, a New Jersey-based gang, comprised of illegal immigrants, is reportedly charging $6,000 per head to smuggle individuals into the U.S. from Canada. This revelation comes amid growing concerns over the northern border's security, as Republican lawmakers highlight the vulnerabilities exposed by the diversion of border agents to the southern border. In the fiscal year 2022, over 109,000 people were intercepted crossing from Canada, a significant jump from nearly 28,000 in 2021. This surge has sparked outrage among conservatives, pointing to a broader national border crisis that extends beyond the southern border to affect every state. The gang, originating from Guatemala and Colombia, leveraged their illegal status in the U.S. to establish a lucrative smuggling operation, exploiting the northern border's lesser scrutiny and the political asylum process to evade federal authorities. This situation underscores the complexity of immigration issues and the need for comprehensive border security measures.

Green Lake Park is among Seattle's most treasured parks. However, recently there has been a conflict among locals, park-goers, and the Green Lake homeless population. The Green Lake homeless situation has reached the attention of Seattle's mayor-elect Bruce Harrell, who has alluded to sweeps in this park and others. We took a walking tour around the park to document the Green Lake homeless situation before sweeps potentially take place under the Bruce Harrell administration.

Treading the streets of San Francisco is becoming a hair-raising task, and it seems even the stalwarts of media aren't immune to the escalating risks. The once-bustling downtown area, particularly the notorious Tenderloin neighborhood, has been tagged as 'too dangerous' for live filming by none other than the folks from 'Good Morning America'. Their field reporter conceded that businesses, both small and large, have simply given up reporting crime, their faith in the authorities in its ebb. Meanwhile, the local politicians, our dear governor included, are busy chanting the mantra of declining crime rates. Isn't it a tad convenient to believe crime is down when no one's reporting it anymore?
The media has taken a sharp pivot, including 'Good Morning America', refusing to buy into the political narrative of 'nothing new under the sun'. After all, it's difficult to turn a blind eye when San Francisco's streets are reminiscent of a zombie apocalypse. Even the bustling Westfield Mall has shut its doors. Why, you ask? A decline in foot traffic and sales, they say. But anyone with a brain between their ears knows it's the pervasive crime and flagrant drug use that's to blame. And yet, the powers that be continue their game of smoke and mirrors, with retail experts predicting a recovery as early as 2024. So, folks, the choice is yours: do you believe the party line of imminent recovery or the glaring reality that even ABC News reporters dare not tread San Francisco's streets after dark?

The Washington Department or Labor and Industries (L&I) filed an emergency rulemaking package last week extending emergency powers to Democrat Governor Jay Inslee. This package, which is an extension of current mandates, grants Inslee the ability to enforce COVID vaccine mandates on all private businesses in the state of Washington, according to elected officials.
Washington state house representatives Jim Walsh (R-Aberdeen) and Jesse Young (R-Gig Harbor) released a statement on Monday condemning the actions of L&I.
"This mandate from L&I demonstrates a complete lack of transparency, which dilutes public trust in our government and fails to show the agency's good faith in promulgating the rule. The reality is this move by L&I is a blank check for the agency to enforce any of the Governor's mandates or edicts on private employers."

Alexander Jay waited for nearly a year behind bars at the King County Jail before being transported on March 3 to Western State Hospital for mental health treatment.
State law, as well as federal and superior court orders mandate inmates like Jay who are deemed incompetent to stand trial due to mental illness must be moved to a state psychiatric facility within seven days. In Jay’s case, it was 299 days since King County Superior Court Judge Johanna Bender signed the order for treatment.
Jay is charged with assaulting a Harborview nurse at a Seattle light rail station in March, 2022, and then stabbing a woman at a Seattle bus stop the same day. In August, Jay was charged with murdering a man with a piece of rebar on Capitol Hill hours after assaulting the two strangers.
Jay’s case underscores a problem uncovered by the KING 5 Investigators in the series Mentally Ill, Waiting in Jail – hundreds of people with serious mental illness stuck in jails across Washington without access to trial or treatment.
The case gained more attention after Judge Bender ruled the state agency responsible for providing the psychiatric help, the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), was in contempt of court for the delays. Bender sanctioned DSHS $250 per day for “willful failure” to “timely admit Mr. Jay to inpatient competency restoration treatment.” Bender ruled the money should be paid to Jay, with a responsible party as a custodian, until being transported to Western State.
The total for Jay added up to approximately $75,00

Thousands of text messages from Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler’s city-issued iPhone and the phones of other top officials are missing from the public record, including texts he sent after former President Donald Trump directed federal agents to the city to quell nightly racial justice protests.
Oregon Public Broadcasting reports that the city uses specialized software to capture text messaging on city-issued phones so they can be retained for public record requests, but the software can't capture encrypted messages sent using Apple's iMessage service.
OPB's investigation found the mayor and his staff sent and received thousands of iMessage texts between 2017 and 2021 and those messages were not captured — and therefore not included — in key public records requests about the protests, policing and other issues.
