ALLOW PAIN ITS RIGHTFUL PLACE IN YOUR LIFE, AND HEAL FASTER:

Pain can serve us really well, and I believe when we stop resisting it and get curious instead, then we’ll move through pain faster, save ourselves from actual damage and become resilient in the process.

In my experience, pain can be a wake up call to something we need to pay attention to in order to “right” or correct a possible threat to our survival OR pain can be an opportunity for experience deeper levels of courage, compassion, love, confidence, trust and joy to name just a few.

Brené Brown says “We cannot selectively numb emotions, when we numb the painful emotions, we also numb the positive emotions.”

As human beings, we can’t separate emotions from physical sensations - they always accompany one another. Our physiology has a dramatic impact on our mood and mindset daily, just like our mood and mindset has a profound impact on our physiology.

If we try to numb or push away physical pain and disallow its existence in our lives, then we should know we’re also banishing physical feelings of confidence, joy, trust, courage, compassion and love.

The emotions we all long to feel in our relationships and lives have a physical component, and if we want the FULL human experience then we have to include pain.

When we allow pain its rightful place in our lives - self-healing becomes instinctual, we’re more in tune with our bodies and intuitions, we can decipher the messages our body send us on a daily basis and we’ll forge an unbreakable partnership between us and our bodies.

Can you think of a painful experience in life that, after the fact, gave you more courage, confidence, wisdom, joy, compassion or self-love? Please share in the comments!

If you’re currently in pain - can you slow down enough to let it be ok?
What happens if you ask: what if this is happening FOR me?
What would that look like?
How would that change my reaction to this pain?
What would I do differently to heal?
