I BOUGHT LOW VOLUME CYMBALS FROM AMAZON | Are They Worth It?
I have so many people that deal with cymbal volume and have no budget. I went ahead and bought these cymbals for my kids school (since they are one of the groups struggling) and I wanted to see how they compared to my Zildjan A Medium cymbals. In the end I feel like these cymbals are a great tool for a specific purpose. I don't think these are suited for normal full-time use, but they do fit a need and you can be creative with how you alter them to create some usable sounds.
In a previous video we built a mix from a viewers church group. We built a scene for his X32 (or M32) console that he could start with for his streaming needs. In this video we will pickup where we left off and use the mix to explore some different FX plugins within the console. We will look at the Edison EX1+, the Stereo Exciter and the Stereo Enhancer.

I had a viewer recently asking how to get gate and compression for an AUX input. The normal AUX inputs only offer an EQ, but you can reassign these inputs to normal channels to gain access to the channel strip effects.

Please make sure you save your scene on the console BEFORE you update firmware. Your current settings per channel will be cleared. You can reload your scene after update, but make sure to save your scene before updating.

If you are like me you have been anticipating returning to your normal venue, but not all of your sound techs are returning to serve. You need to find a way to make a mix that works for your room, but also offers a mix that will work for your stream. In this video I walk through all of the steps to setup a post-fader mix on a stereo AUX Bus that sounds great and could be just the information you need to transform your live stream experience this weekend.

The music used in this video is a recording from my church performing the song "Unstoppable God" by Chris Brown, Steven Furtick and Wade Joye with CCLI# 7011436. I don't own the rights to the song, but we did perform this live with no backing tracks.

This video walks through my Quick n' Dirty EQ Method. This is something I teach to new sound engineers as a way to focus on the really bad sounds during a sound check. Like any technique, the more you practice, the better and faster you will get. Obviously, this is NOT a video about how to craft a mix full of instruments and find their place in the tonal spectrum.

This video is the next step in our home practice. We attach a channel strip as an insert to each instrument. We then talk about the "Quick N Dirty" EQ method. We also look at the basic compression setting on the channel strip as we begin tuning our drums.

In this video I am finishing up the rear suspension. I hit the finish welding on the axle parts and double check the travel and articulation. Watch to the end to see it moving on its own ‘power’. It has been a lot of work and brain power to put it together, but I would do it all over again (albeit a little faster) on another project.

In this video we jump into a far reaching part of the X32 (M32) console to help us fill out the bottom end sound on a cajon. We want to use a sine wave oscillator to play a frequency and then add it into our mix with a remote fader. It's a really cool trick that can help you round out your mix and support the sound in your house and live stream mixes.

This was an amazing concert put on at a local school that was highlighting the high school choir and strings program. My wife and I got to participate together and that is always a great experience. I set my GoPro next to my seat and I intertwined that camera with the multicamera livestream recording.
