Gigabyte RX 5700 XT Teardown & Thermal improvements
The goal... make my system more stable in a high-heat environment. Don't focus on the GPU clocks, as those aren't my 24/7 overclocks, but used for testing before and after differences. Then once I confirms the GPUs were stable I applied my normal settings. However, the point of this video is to share the experience as I try to improve thermals on this GPU and talk about whether this card benefits from a Copper shim mod or just good thermal paste and pad replacement. Does it improve cooling, and at what cost? I will have a few of these videos that get posted but share your thoughts below. This video came about because of a thermal issue I was having, and random late night teardown. I am glad I did clean the Video Cards and had some Conductonaut - Kryonaut to use. It improves temps of my two hottest cards, even though I did this for a Mining system it could be beneficial for a Gaming Graphics card as well. However, USE LIQUID METAL AT YOUR OWN RISK, there are plenty of guides and info to help you out. I dropped the 980 Ti temps anywhere from 5c - 8c, and GTX 1070 from 3c - 5c. Forgive me, but I am just getting over the Flu that has been going around. However, Nvidia I believe did a good job positioning the 1660 Ti in the sub $300 category, while providing great performance. This card seems to be giving us Vega 56 equivalent performance or a little less than, or Nvidia 1070 level performance without breaking the wallet. I would like to know everyone's thoughts on Nvidia's latest non - ray tracing - DLSS, card.
