The new BMW iX3 also embodies the strategic “Power of Choice” approach with which the BMW Group is covering the broad varietyof customer requirements and statutory regulations around the world. The BMW X3 will be the first model to be available with highly efficient petrol and diesel engines, a plug-in hybrid system or a pure-electric drive system. The market launch of the iX3 will begin later in 2020, when sales get underway in China. It will be the brand’s first model to also be built for export at the Shenyang plant in China, which is operated by the joint venture BMW Brilliance Automotive.
The new drive system unit generates maximum output of 210 kW/286 hp and peak torque of 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) which, unlike with many other electric motors, is sustained at high revs. The new BMW iX3 sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.8 seconds, putting it on equal footing with the conventionally powered BMW X3 xDrive30i. Top speed is electronically limited to 180 km/h (112 mph).
Cutting-edge battery cell technology plays a central role in the latest development stage of high-voltage batteries. The storage capacity of the battery, relative to the installation space required and its weight, has been substantially increased. The gravimetric energy density of the 188 prismatic cells in the new BMW iX3 is around 20 per cent higher than the one of the battery cells used by the BMW Group for fully electric vehicles up to now.
A gross energy content of 80 kWh – of which 74 kWh is utilised – and the high efficiency of the drive systems allow the new BMW iX3 to offer a range of up to 459 kilometres (285 miles) in the WLTP test cycle and up to 520 kilometres (323 miles) in the NEDC test cycle.
The new technical features making their debuts under the banner of the fifth- generation BMW eDrive technology include an innovative charging unit, sending power to both the 400V battery and the 12V on-board power supply. When using alternating current terminals, it enables both single-phase and three-phase charging at up to 11 kW. Plugging the vehicle into a direct current fast-charging station facilitates charging outputs of up to 150 kW. The high-voltage battery in the new BMW iX3 can therefore be charged from 0 to 80 per cent of its full capacity in 34 minutes. Drivers can inject the power required to add 100 kilometres (62 miles) to the car’s driving range (in the WLTP cycle) in 10 minutes of charging.

The new 2021 Genesis G80 represents both the third generation of the brand’s executive sedan and a decade-plus of mid-luxury leadership from Genesis’ parent company.
The interior design of the 2021 Genesis G80 responds to the changing times where dominance of technology and information is no longer considered a luxury experience. Based on the "Beauty of White Space” concept inspired by traditional Korean architecture, priority is placed on the careful balance of personal space with state-of-the-art technology. This allowed the design team to optimize the layout of needed controls with calming, luxurious surfaces.
In keeping with the brand’s safety platform, G80 applies standard active and passive safety systems, as part of a brand-level engineering commitment to passenger security.
The 2021 Genesis G80 enters the marketplace on March 30th in South Korea and in the second half of the year in other markets, starting with North America.

Bentley revealed the new 2021 Bentayga – the luxury SUV and the first car launched under Bentley’s Beyond100 business plan.
With more than 20,000 Bentaygas handcrafted since the car’s launch – more than any of its competitors – the new Bentayga is set to build on an incredible success story to date.
A new exterior design adopts the Bentley design DNA now prevalent across the entire model range, giving Bentley the freshest and most modern product family of any luxury car company. Introducing the very latest onboard technology and an even more cosseting cabin, the new model is significantly revised both inside and out.
New Bentayga is powered by Bentley’s proven 4.0-liter, 32-valve dual twin-scroll turbocharged V8 petrol engine, which combines immense power with impressive fuel economy. Mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, the V8 offers supercar performance, developing 542 horsepower and 568 lb.ft (770 Nm) of torque, resulting in a top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h) and 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds (100 km/h in 4.5 seconds).
The class-leading performance of the new Bentayga V8 is complemented by a range of 397 miles (639 km), with CO2 emissions of 302 g/km. This refined efficiency (21.2 mpg / 13.3 l/100 km combined) is partly due to the ability of the engine to de-activate four of its eight cylinders in suitable conditions, without compromising the drive.
Bentley Dynamic Ride – the world’s first electric active roll control technology – has been further enhanced in new Bentayga by a 20 mm track increase at the rear, reducing steering effort and improving response linearity. Bentley Dynamic Ride instantly counteracts lateral rolling forces when cornering and ensures maximum tyre contact to deliver class-leading cabin stability, comfort and handling.
New Bentayga offers the widest range of on and off-road drive settings of any SUV courtesy of Bentley’s Drive Dynamics Mode and the optional All-Terrain Specification. Up to eight modes - four on and four off-road - are available, allowing drivers to select the perfect dynamic set-up for any surface or road condition at the turn of a dial.
Later, new Bentayga will be offered as an efficient Hybrid, the luxury sector’s first true plug-in hybrid. Benefiting from its introduction in the previous generation model, the Hybrid will be Bentley’s most efficient model ever and is the company’s first step towards electrification.
There will also be a performance-focused Speed model, with even more purposeful styling. The Speed is the pinnacle of the Bentayga range and will be powered by Bentley’s renowned 6.0-liter W12 TSI engine.

The 2021 BMW M5 generates its maximum output of 600 horsepower (441 kW) at 6,000 rpm, while the 2021 BMW M5 Competition’s 625 horsepower (460 kW) also comes on line at 6,000 rpm.
–
The duo’s peak torque of 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) arrives as low down as 1,800 rpm and is sustained at this elevated level all the way to 5,600 rpm in the BMW M5 and an even higher 5,860 rpm in the BMW M5 Competition. The engine characteristics can be changed at the touch of a button from the basic EFFICIENT mode to SPORT and SPORT+, resulting in even more willing response to movements of the accelerator. The BMW M5 sprints from 0 – 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.4 seconds, putting it firmly into super-sports car territory. And it only requires 11.1 seconds to power to 200 km/h (124 mph) from rest. The BMW M5 Competition completes both tasks a fraction more quickly: 100 km/h (62 mph) is up in 3.3 seconds, 200 km/h (124 mph) in 10.8 seconds. The top speed of the BMW M5 and BMW M5 Competition is 250 km/h (155 mph) – or 305 km/h (189 mph) with the optional M Driver’s Package specified. The flap-controlled dual-branch exhaust system of the BMW M5 and the M Sport exhaust system on the BMW M5 Competition – likewise with a dual-branch and flap-controlled design – produce the soundtrack to match. A more understated engine note can also be summoned with the M Sound Control button. The eight-speed M Steptronic transmission fitted as standard enables extraordinarily short shift times and fast, precise responses to every nudge of the accelerator. The Drivelogic rocker switch on the gear selector allows three modes to be chosen for efficient, sporty or dynamically intense track driving – the latter involving extremely rapid gearshifts. The driver can use both the selector lever and the shift paddles on the steering wheel to intervene manually.
Credit for negotiating the dynamic tightrope between full everyday usability on the one hand and driving pleasure and exceptional track performance on the other goes to the M xDrive system and its centralised intelligent control for the Active M Differential. As an alternative to variable all-wheeldrive mode (4WD) with rear-biased baseline setup, the car’s handling characteristics can be altered by varying degrees, culminating in 2WD mode. This pure rear-wheel drive setting with no DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) treats accomplished drivers to completely unadulterated driving pleasure. The M Servotronic steering can also be adjusted in its response, with a choice of COMFORT and SPORT modes, as can Variable Damper Control (VDC).
Prices in Germany will start at €120,900 for the BMW M5 and €129,900 for the BMW M5 Competition.
Ducati unveils e-Scrambler electric bike
Ducati is no stranger to electric bikes, having produced a number of them over the last few years as part of a partnership with electric bicycle company Thok.
Previously Ducati has focused on high-performance electric mountain bikes, but now the company’s new Ducati e-Scrambler puts it squarely in urban territory.
The e-Scrambler is an urban trekking bike with a Shimano electric bicycle system at its core.
That means it features the Shimano Steps E7000 motor, which puts out a nominal 250 watts and an actual 60 Nm of torque, all from a pint-sized 2.8 kg (6 lb) mid-drive setup.
Energy comes from a 504 Wh Shimano battery that gets mounted underslung-style to the downtube, a favorite mounting position for Ducati.
There’s no word on the estimated range of the e-bike, but on a similar Shimano setup I can get around 75 miles of extrapolated range with a medium amount of pedaling effort.
A Suntour XCR fork with 100 mm travel offers a bit of suspension relief up front, something the hydroformed 6061 aluminum alloy frame doesn’t.
Brakes come in the form of a pair of 4-piston Sram Guide T units clamping down on some giant 203 mm rotors. Sram also provides the transmission, a NX 11-speed in the rear. Both are good components, though not at the top end of Sram’s parts hierarchy by any stretch of the imagination.
The Ducati e-Scrambler gets Thok’s e-plus wheels sporting Pirelli Cycl-e GT 27.5″x2.35″ tires.
The bike even boasts a dropper seat post, integrated lights, and a rear rack rated for 25 kg (55 lb) loads — all in a bike weighing just 22.5 kg (49.6 lb) without the pedals. “Why without the pedals?” you may ask. Presumably because once you screw them on, you’ll have to say 50 lbs, which sounds a lot heavier to the marketing folks than 49.6 lb.
For pricing, the Ducati e-Scrambler will run you €3,699 ($4,280). It’s available directly from Ducati as well as through their dealer network.
