Our honest feedback
The game has a lean a minimalist look & feel, not only on the UY, but the game itself with a very clear pixel art style that is focused on simplicity.
The game is very intuitive to learn to play, and as you progress through the different levels, you start learning the two mechanics that you can use. Shoot the Ball and make the plant grow. With those, you need to overcome the different levels of the game in order to take the ball to the end of the level.
The game is very simple, but very fun to play, which makes move through the levels to see what will be the next one. Too bad, that at this current stage they are not plenty of them.

Our honest feedback
The game has cool pixel art artstyle with great animations and a great soundtrack to put you in the correct mood.
The gameplay is straightforward to learn, being the main problem, the impossibility to redefine the controls to match your preferences.
From a point of view of gameplay, the size of the hitboxes between the enemies and the player make it somewhat unfair, as the enemies are able to hit you with just a small part of the body showing behind a corner or a box, while you are not able to hit them in the same situation, and you have to be face to face with them to be able to kill them.
Their range of action is also very large, and they are able to detect you and fire at you as soon as you get into any room, which makes you to actually move forward as fast as possible to try to get into a more fair position.
Nonetheless, the game is very fun to play and can actually grab you trying to play for a couple of minutes more.
In our case, since we try to have these showcase videos below fives minutes we had actually to trim down the video ;)

We have corrected an error in the numbering of the video, that we started a couple of videos ago when trying to display both the serie of flax tutorial and the one of Wolfentstein.
We are setting it correctly today. 8th Flax engine video and 4th in the WOLFENSTEIN 3D.
In this video, we are going to extend this, into an almost full-blown animation system that will allow playing animations independently from where the enemy is looking at.
We will also start to blow some Intelligence into our enemy to be able to chase the player around the level using the Navigation volume from Flax.

Our honest feedback
The game has an interesting color palette, and same of the screenshots of the game were able to catch the eye due to its brilliant colors and its pixel art look.
Once you start to play the game, visually the game fulfills its promise, as it is really interesting to see the sprites and the backgrounds.
From a point of view of animation, the game is not at the same level. The animations are some what low in the number of the frames, maybe to try to look for a simple pixel art look, but the result is somewhat stiff.
The same happens with the controls which are really difficult to control precisely, and sometimes you just jump out of platform because you are not able to control it.
The level design is simple but effective with several alternatives paths. The enemies are very limited and very simple in their AI and not really a good challenge for the players abilities. And of course, it is quite short, as we were able to reach the end of the game in the length of the video.
But :)
The game is only a prototype, so there is a lot of room for improvement, and if the developer keeps on working on the game, it can certainly achieve an interesting games.

Welcome to a new section of our GAME DEVELOPERS channel.
Since we have some messages asking us specific questions, we have decided to address those questions, even if they are not yet in areas where we have produced some materials.
In this case, several people have asked us about what would be the correct way to move a character in Unity.
A very interesting question, that looking back in time, also give us quite some heavy headaches.
Why? Because there isn´t a clear better way to move a character in Unity.
Each method has advantages and disadvantages. So, depending on what you want to do, you will need to select one method or another. But if someone has to answer if there is a right way to do player movement in Unity, we will certainly try to answer the question and to show the diverse possibilities by implementing an comparing the following ways of moving a player:

As a bonus in minute 40:00 there is how to check for the ground with SphereCasts, something needed for the transform translate movement.

This is an intermediate tutorial, so we are basing that you already know your way through Unity and there so, we will not go in detail where the options are, what is the syntax of the functions that we will be using.
The test case has been done with the 2019 version of Unity, but it should work in any version.

We try to keep our gameplay videos around five minutes or less because the objective is to showcase all the great games that can be developed with the game engines in our tutorials list.
But in the case of BOTTOMLESS, it was actually quite difficult to think on the 5 minutes limit, because the game hook you into the challenges and the exploration that you have to solve/perform, in order to keep advancing in the game.
It is not a easy game, although the level ramps up smoothly, but some of the first steps actually made us lose frequently.
The controls are precise and the only problem that we had with them is that they are quite numerous, which meant that actually facing the game challenges and having to remember about all the controls that we have to do, is somewhat a very hard challenge, which can be balanced.
We think that it is a really great game that has the potential to have some success and to be a good representative on what godot is able of.

In this video, we will continue with the same 2D Platformer example that we have been developing in different game engines.
We will apply the machine state code, that we have developed for the player in the last episode, into the enemy; and, We will create the health bars for both game characters, using two different methods that can be used when creating health bars for your games.
To make it easier to understand the main difference between the different engines that we are covering, we have thought of implementing the same game with the resources.
Since in G Develop we have already started to put the foundations on a new platformer for the Melee tutorials, we have decided to use it too in Construct.
There so, In this tutorial, we will import all the assets for the level, player, and enemies, we will create a first draft level, and implement a basic movement that will allow us to control our player character.

In this video, we are going to address a couple of bugs with the firing and animation system that should have made our player shoot at a certain fire rate; And that resets the animation every time we press the fire button.
Finally, following a request from a subscriber, we are going to show how you can shift visually the fun when picking the new one.

We are checking on the mechanics that we are implemented and then testing them in the game to make sure they are working correctly. So this is a really good course to learn on how to develop games.
