A set of chords and a set of words seperated by several decades. The original 'To Hell And Back' dates from 1999, but the lyric sheets have long-since disappeared, and I wasn't about to transcribe a 30-verses song from the CD. A few months back I pulled some new words out, to make 'To Hell And Back (Again)', and yesterday morning, I opened up another vein in my soul and let some more new words pour onto the page. It didn't end there, another 2 verses followed today. The circle* is complete.

Final version of this song, slower than the 5 preceding takes. It's awkward, at 62, singing with same power and venom as when you're 22, let alone the speed, but I tried.
This is one of those songs that comes straight out of the news and straight into your conscience. As with 'As Ye Sow (So Shall Ye Reap)', for instance, and 'We Are Solicitors', you're only addressing the guilty, not en masse, in songs like this. Anyone who has watched the UK headlines for the last few years, knows the names I'm not mentioning, because they don't deserve any recognition this side of the great divide.

The song starts at 02:43 after some prep. This is - now - the finished version of 'The Angels Weep', which came to me a few days ago in the first 8 verses here, and I recorded it as that. But it always seemed as if there was more of it to come, some songs are like that, you think you've written the final line and they are, "Uh-uh, we'll be seein' you again," and sure enough, another 12 verses forced their way out the next day, which I recorded as 'Part 2' and figured I was done. What did I know. Another 4 verses came today, and told me they were done with me now.
I didn't think I would ever be able to put the 24 verses together and make the full song, as my leg and arm disability has the better of me now (I smiled at how I am getting lower and lower as the song goes on, as my leg braces begin to buckle), but, I made it, kind've. There was even a second take after this, but that was a bit looser. What can I tell you, I did my best.

Take 2 is the 'old' way, fast-n-fury-us, but, apart from the amp buzz throwing me out at places, this has a certain something going for it as well.
