These bees look to have been in place for about 2-3 years from the darker color of the comb. Once the trees fill out with foliage, that portion of the roof-line is shaded, making it a decent spot for a home. Squirrels had chewed open the wood - exposing the space for the bees to move in. This 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 4.3L truck had it's original cabin filter in it! The evaporator coil would freezer over and block airflow with ice - and if the compressor was turned off - it would continue to blow cold air as the ice melted. Fresh filters to replace the clogged ones - and suddenly there's a BLAST of COLD air coming out of the vents!
