Since we were in the grow room we also checked in on our single seed challenge yellow pear shaped tomato from Gardening in the North.
We hope you enjoy Thanks for watching Chris and Steph

Time once again for Harvesting Potatoes From Containers part of our 2022 harvest
Containers are a great way to grow potatoes if you have only a small space to grow. We have been growing some potatoes in containers for the last few years and this will be an interesting year to compare the growth of potatoes from the containers with the growth from potatoes grown in the ground which is a fun yearly thing to track.
Thanks so much for watching!

Homestead life is every changing with the seasons and a homestead to-do list is no different. As always in addition to the things we need to get done there are always things we'd like to get done around the homestead this fall.

Today we are talking about sheep being browsers. Often thought of as grazers, we find our Icelandic Sheep to be more of a browser. When released into a fresh pasture, grass is not the first thing that the sheep are interested in.

This is a brief video on housing our kunekune pigs in the fall. We have been keeping them in the barn during mud season and its working really well so far. Managing kunekune's in the summer months has been very easy for us here as they truly are amazing grazing pigs. But when the weather turns wet in the fall housing them outdoors is not the best option for us here as they are still pigs and in the soft soil they can turn over a lot of sod quickly (something they don't seem to do in the summer when grazing is good).
Anyways hope you enjoy this short update on the kunekunes
thanks' for watching! And if you enjoy this or any of our other videos don't forget to like comment and subscribe!

Processing A Goose For The Table
Today's video is long overdue and this is take two of this video. We are processing a goose for the table. Geese are an excellent type of poultry which can really provide a lot to the family if you have the space for them. They are big birds but are amazingly economical to raise and they provide you with multiple products. Hopefully you enjoy this video on how we process whole geese for the freezer and table!
Thanks so much for watching!

Sprouting seeds is a great way to have some healthy greens during the winter. But seed for sprouting is expensive, so why not grow your own seed crop for sprouting! Brassicas are great for this purpose and you have the added benefit that the seeds produced can be used for sprouting and planting the next year's crop. So if you haven't tried harvesting your own seed for sprouting or seed saving in general, you should seriously give it a try, as the results are well worth the work!
