From http://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/leak-detection.html - In this video Steve talks about the most common cause for pool decks that are sinking. Usually this means that there is a leak in the pool near to the area where the deck is failing, but also this can indicate a failure (or lack of) supporting system for the deck like sono tubes or X-braces on a vinyl pool.

http://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/pump-reviews.html - In this video Steve talks about what the biggest and most powerful (residential) pool pump is. While the Pentair Intelliflo actually has a much larger motor (6HP) which has been regulated down to 3 HP, the Hayward EcoStar actually manages to move slightly more water. In a technical sense the Intelliflo is the more "powerful" pump but the Ecostar moves more water.

From https://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/storage.html - If your swimming pool gets winterized and closed each year, you may be tempted to leave it closed this swimming season for one reason or another. Learn why it is recommended and even mandatory in some areas that swimming pools be opened and chemically maintained every year. You might be surprised to learn that technically you should not need antifreeze in order to protect a swimming pool from damage over a freezing winter season. For the most part this is because you are going to remove any water from the plumbing lines and if there is no water in the pipes then there is no way for freezing to break those pipes. Mostly antifreeze is antifreeze is a low cost backup backup to help you protect your pipes. If you could make the argument that there is any place that needs antifreeze you could argue that skimmers require this period at least to say it is such a good idea that you should absolutely spend the extra dollars to get some pool antifreeze and put some in the skimmer pipes as well as the skimmer body itself. All of these extra layers of protection add up to a greater chance of surviving a cold and freezing winter season without damage to your pool skimmer. Don't forget to use foam rope, or backer rod as another layer of protection. Inserting about one foot of foam rope down into the skimmer pipes will add another layer of protection against freeze damage. This closed cell foam product will not absorb water and will allow something to crush should ice form instead of pushing outwards on the walls of the pipe. From https://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/drain.html this video talks about the importance of never draining your swimming pool. Though there are many kinds of swimming pools most of them share a similar quality in that they are supposed to have water in them to help resist the forces pushing inwards on the walls. Stated another way the water in your pool is helping to protect your pool. If you drain your pool you can definitely cause damage. Some pools are worse than others for the type and severity of damage that can happen and this is why it would be a good idea to consult with an industry professional about your unique swimming pool situation before you attempt to drain your pool for any reason.
