Spike, the Mille Fleur-patterned, almost 9 year old son of my 10 year old porcelain D'Anver rooster, Aubrey, has some sort of neurological issue. We've seen this coming on for a couple of weeks and it seems to be progressing. Of the originals, Aubrey, my porcelain rooster, and his hens Aimee and Penny are left. Rounding that out is Aimee's daughter, Mina, who is Spike's mother. Carly, one of the original three hens and one just barely larger than Serama, passed on a couple of years ago. Sissy, another of Aimee's daughters, passed away within the last year at age seven. So, check out what is happening to Spikers in this video.
5:12 you begin to see that he's having trouble picking up food
9:50 Spike drinks water and you can see what happens when he does.
Soon, there will be no Belgian D'Anvers left at the farm, sort of an end to an era for us. Thanks to Aubrey Webb of Boggy Bottom Bantams in South Georgia for these birds. If you are interested in having this breed, Aubrey has so many color varieties, your head will spin!
