Prepared to upgrade the GPU to Asus Rog Strix RTX 3090 OC I had to decide if I will use 2 PCIe 12V power cables and a thirt PCIe 12V power cable daisy-cained or I would buy one extra PCIe cable to have 3 separate cables instead of 2. Corsair PCIe power cables are 16awg and can take 720W over 2 connectors based on 16awg 12v power rating of 10A current. The new PCIe 5.0 GPU Corsair cables are using the same 16awg power cables and even for RTX 4090 the cabke and connectors rated at 600W+ only have 2 connectors going to the Corsair PSU. Even with all this, I didn't want to risk anything and bought the extra PCIe cable to reduce the load on the connectors and cables. It's 99% not needed but the cable was really cheap and I just got it and installed it to be ready when the GPU arrives. Corsair should have put 3 PCIe cables in the RM3L850X 2021 model. The RM850X has 2 PCIe cables and 3 CPU cables, instead they should have 3 PCIe cables and 2 CPU cables. Feels like a mistake, let me know in the comments if you have any explanation for that other than having the option to sell an extra cable. They would say 2 cables is enough and it really is enough but why 3 CPU cables? A mistake? I bought the RM850X to upgrade from Seasonic Prime 650W PSU to 850W PSU. Waiting for a new graphics card GPU Asus ROG Strix RTX 3090 OC 25G. Installed it and it's working perfectly! For now I have my existing Asus Dual OC 6G RTX 2060 installed in the PC and my RTX 2060 only needs one PCIe 12V power cable. I routed the other 2 power cables already waiting patiently next to the gpu for the time to install the new RTX 3090 in there. Like this, all cables are ready and it will be a quick GPU swap when ready. I upgraded the PSU also to make sure that I reduce the chances of the RTX 3090 not working and I didn't want to do the PSU and GPU upgrade together to make sure the PSU works with the existing GPU before upgrading the GPU too. Doing it in steps to avoid doing too many changes at once in case a component is faulty. PCIe cables are ready to go, PSU works fine with the existing setup. Ready for the Asus ROG Strix OC RTX 3090 24G GPU. I bought one extra PCIe power cable to avoid using PCIe daisy chained power cables. I'm sure it would work fine on 2 cables + 1 but one extra cable is cheap enough to just buy one and put less pressure on the connectors and cables considering I will use this with a Rog Strix RTX 3090 OC.
