The Kiowa County community of Lone Wolf is situated nine miles west of Hobart on State Highways 9 and 44. Lone Wolf's main street, State Highway 9, intersects with State Highway 44 on the town's eastern edge. Lone Wolf is located about six miles east of the North Fork of the Red River and the Kiowa-Greer county line. The Texas and Oklahoma Railroad runs in a northeasterly direction through town. Lone Wolf was founded upon the opening of the Kiowa, Comanche, and Apache Reservation in August 1901. Established along the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway, the settlement was quickly populated and named for Kiowa Chief Lone Wolf. The community's first business was a restaurant operated by Mark Sauerberg and his partner, Hance Van Rankin. Chief Lone Wolf and his wife and son were their first customers.

Clarksville, a settlement four miles south of present day Porter was the birthplace of Pleasant Porter, who later became chief of the Creek Nation. Incorporated in 1905, the town's name honored Pleasant Porter. By 1907 statehood, there were three banks, two cotton gins and a thriving community with a school and churches.

Today we are discussing The Skull Hollow Nature Trail in Oolagah, Oklahoma.
The Skull Hollow Nature Trail in Oolagah is considered an easy route, it takes an average of 27 min to complete. This is a popular trail for birding, hiking, and running, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The best times to visit this trail are March through April. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
Oologah Lake provides a great getaway for fishing, boating, picnicking, camping or just drifting over the sky blue waters. Plenty of wide stretches of water, perfect for catching the wind, make it one of the most popular lakes in the area for sailing and catching catfish. The forested hills around the lake provide excellent hunting opportunities.
The Oologah Public Hunting Area comprises almost 13,000 acres of easily accessible land managed by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. It provides excellent hunting for quail, squirrel, rabbit, deer and waterfowl. Eleven public use areas scattered around the lake offer a variety of facilities making it easy to find something that's just right for you.
Recreation opportunities include a swimming beach, mountain biking, marina, RV and tent camping, picnic tables and a playground. On the east side of the lake, the Will Rogers Country Centennial Trail winds around the shore from the Spillway to Blue Creek Park, totaling 18 miles. This journey can be enjoyed by hiking or horseback riding. Horse rental is not available, so bring your own horse and enjoy the trails.

Once the Capital of Indian Territory, Muskogee has played a significant role in Oklahoma and American history. In 1872 Muskogee, OK sprung to life as a railway station for the KATY Railroad. It took no time at all for railroad workers, bridge builders, boarding house owners, homesteaders, and an array of bootleggers and outlaws to make their way here to live and forge the unique community. When the hard times hit during the Great Depression, many moved away. The “Real Okies” stayed.
The migrant agricultural workers from Oklahoma who had been forced to leave during the Depression of the 1930s and who were once thought of in a negative connotation, “Okies” are now typically admired for their grit, creativity with resources, and distinct determination. Okies today are Oklahoma natives who are seen as the tough families and individuals that survived the Dust Bowl and oil bust and either stayed, or moved back, because it was home.

Today we are discussing a story about a lost treasure in the Kiamichi Mountains near Rattan, Oklahoma.
The Kiamichi Mountains, located primarily in Pushmataha, McCurtain, and Le Flore counties has elevations reaching 2,500 feet above sea level. The range lies in a frontal belt of the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas and Oklahoma. The Kiamichi River, the mountains' major water system, flows through the range's northern edge.
Rattan is a town in Pushmataha County at the intersection of Oklahoma routes 3 and 93. Established in approximately 1910, Rattan was named for Rattan, Texas, from which a number of its early white settlers came.
Cherokee Nation is the sovereign government of the Cherokee people. They are the largest of three federally recognized Cherokee tribes and are based in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, the capital of the Cherokee Nation.
