The first fawn of the season came in last week. She is one the sweetest we have ever had. This one truly was an orphan, but we continue to get calls from well-meaning and caring people that want to “save” fawns that do not need any help. Please leave them alone unless they are up, circling, and bleating for help, or if their ears are curled. Otherwise they are likely JUST fine! We could sure use some fawn formula to get us kick started for this year. We use the Fox Valley 33/30 and usually order from Chris’ Squirrels. Thank you for your kindness and compassion! Our address is: 186 Finchville Turnpike, Otisville, NY, 10963

Yesterday may have been the last nice sunny and warm day we have this year, as today the water bowl is frozen. The bears took advantage of it. Note the two squirrel nests in the trees (one on top of the other). Our released squirrels I’m sure!

Baby rabbits are very fragile and it can be tough to take them in and keep them alive. So far this year we have only lost one (a baby that was injured by a cat), but all the others are making it and thriving! Well done, Susan, well done!

Did you know that bears love to eat grass? I remember being surprised at that when I first met Susan and Jim and the bears. Once the bears eat down all the grass in the enclosure (by the end of the year), Susan will actually go out and pick grass for them to have. Here is proof - a video of some of the bears enjoying the grass. Enjoy!
