Salt Glaciers Of Iran
Million of years ago, the Persian Gulf was a much larger body of water, as the water evaporated/retreated, vast quantities of salt remained.
Over the years, thousands of feet of mountain sediment washed down in rain, compacting it. They represent a particular geologic evolution process.
Under pressure, salt can change shape, flow, and intrude into the overlying sediments. The pressure overcomes the weight and strength of overlaying strata, frictional forces, and the force of gravity resisting uplift further reading and some image sources.
