The dark circles under my eyes bring people to stare, like I'm some haunted creature. Better to be haunted than alone. Maybe that's why people feel ghosts in their bones as they begin to grow old. Depression is an unwanted dinner guest, that sits with me while I push the rest, of the food on my plate to the side.
