A missile defence system is intended to act as a shield against incoming ballistic missiles. The Russian-built S-400 Triumf — identified by NATO as the SA-21 Growler — is the world’s most dangerous operationally deployed modern long-range surface-to-air missile system, and is considered much more effective than the Terminal High Altitude Area Defence system developed by the US. The S-400 is a mobile system that integrates a multifunction radar, autonomous detection and targeting systems, anti-aircraft missile systems, launchers, and a command and control centre. It can be deployed within five minutes, and is capable of firing three types of missiles to create a layered defence. It can engage all types of aerial targets including aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, and ballistic and cruise missiles within a range of 400 km, at an altitude up to 30 km. It can simultaneously track 100 airborne targets, including super fighters such as the US-built F-35, and engage six of them at the same time.

E-bomb is an electromagnetic weapon that will cut off power in an area where it is dropped. Consequently, it will destroy most machines that use electricity like generators, mobiles and there would be no chance of making a phone call. In a matter of seconds, an e-bomb would take the entire city back to 200 years.
Giving detailed information about the e-bomb, Director TBRL Dr Manjeet Singh said, “E-bomb is the part of security system in 21st century. The bomb weighs 2 kilos and 400 grams. In order to explode this, it has to be dropped from a plane and then by using an aerial it can be triggered. The bomb when dropped will immediately cut off electricity and stop electronic items from working.”

Some thoughts ----------
There are two elements to Putin – His power and his attitude. Let’s assume he is able to bring both to the PM’s chair in India. All the ‘intolerance’ debate will end, because there won’t be any debate, except in hushed voices at Lutyens. People will wonder if their drinks are spiked.
There won’t be any ‘dissent’ to speak of, and given the quality of dissent and opposition that we have currently, I think the quiet will be much welcome.
Pakistan will bottle up, or lose territory, lives and face, rapidly. The Defence Ministry will heave a sigh of relief, as it won’t have to be ‘considerate’ to useless, junk DRDO organizations, and be able to buy what our military needs from anywhere.

The S-400 Triumf, is an advanced air and missile defence system intended to engage targets at ranges of up to 400 km, in an intensive jamming environment, says James Bosbotinis, a UK-based specialist in maritime and air force developments.
Not only is it highly advanced, but it costs a fraction of its counterparts. The S-400 system costs around $500 million, in comparison to the Patriot Pac-2 which comes in at around $1 billion. This is one of the major reasons why the S-400 has garnered interest all over the world.
Russian made arms generally cost a fraction of their US counterparts due to lack of maintenance support. Andrew Hunter, director of the Defense-Industrial Initiatives Group at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, told CNBC, "When foreign militaries buy American, above and beyond the purchase, they are buying a partnership with the U.S. military."
In the case of India, the US has threatened to impose sanctions under Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA) legislation. China has already had similar sanctions imposed.
In India’s case, Bosbotinis explains, such sanctions could threaten growing defence cooperation between the US and India, which, ironically, is intended in part to counter China. Similarly, the US is threatening to block the sale of the F-35 to Turkey if it proceeds with a planned S-400 acquisition.
The SA-21 at its current position near Hmeimim Air Base near Latakia provides coverage over most points in Syria. In addition, various NATO assets that are engaged in the region against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIL) would be in the range of the S-400.

SOME MORE FACTS -
Because our Army couldn’t have taken POK as easily as many Indians think. The war was already a prolonged one (1+ years) and continued for a year after Nehru approached UN before ceasefire was effected. Indians and Pakistanis were in a tight tug of war with the winters favouring Pak, while summers favoured Indians. Additionally POK being closer to Pak capital (read, driving distance) was easier for the Pak military from logistics and supply perspective. Additionally India was engaged in combating rebellions and insurgencies on multiple fronts - Hyderabad, North East, resettlement of refugees all over north and east and couldn’t afford to fight all of them with already limited resources and internal disturbances along with the wounds of partition and assassination of Gandhi still fresh. If the war prolonged, more than likely we would have lost the peaks we had gained. Nehru waited for Indian troops to secure strategically important peaks and without any delay declared ceasefire once Kargil was taken. Further gambling could have turned things against India’s favour. Unfortunately, misrepresentation of facts over the years, political expediency and Indians’ general disdain for details and need to find a convenient scapegoat leads one to see Nehru’s extremely pragmatic and wise move as a blunder. Nehru and Mountbatten did what they could at the time to maximize gain under the circumstances.
