THE WORST ELEVATORS OF NC? God Awful Mod 1974 Former Dover Hydraulic Elevator @ JCPenny 4 Seasons Town Centre (Greensboro, NC)
I discovered this mall while heading back home and I had to come see what this place had to offer. I was SEVERLY DISGUSTING to what I mostly found here at this mall, modded garbage. Not only that, I didn't have time for the 1995 Custom Dover Impulses at the Shearton next to this place. :-( (Oh, and about that place...)
Starting off with this elevator at the mall, this is without question the worst one here, in fact, it's one of the worst mall elevators I've EVER been on, just as terrible as that deteriorating 1992 Dover Impulse at Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh.
I'm guessing this was a Former Dover Traditional or Black Button, but has been DeInnovated with probably one of the worst excuses of a "Slop On" I've ever seen, even worse than the TK Traditional "Slop On" at that one Hotel in Gatlinburg. There is nothing interesting whatsoever about this mod, and of course they got the cheap ass looking Universal Fixtures.
This is also an elevator that fits in the DeInnovation/ThyssenKrapp Mod Curse, where every elevator with an Innovation Universal/TK (Usually MAD) mod automatically turns the elevator(s) to shit. Not only are the mods usually worthless, the cabs start deteriorating in ride quality. As seen here, the cab creaks a lot and the door operators are banging, like something off of several TK Traditionals, aka MR CLANG AND BANG?!?! Think of the Valley Hills Mall JCPenny's Monty Vector problems, but 3X WORSE!
Here's the stupidest part, the left cab doesn't even work and likely indicates it has broken down. Big goddamn surprise!
These are more than likely THE WORST elevators in NC! These are some of those elevators I'll never ride again, for whatever reason. Sure, the Monty at the Valley Hills Mall JCPenny one is deteriorating, but unlike that one, this cab is not worth getting trapped in and is MUCH WORSE than what the Monty is dealing with. Don’t waste your time with these, actually don’t waste your time with this mall at all because most of their elevators suck and are not taken care of.

These are the more American Looking Elevators in Aruba. These are Series 4 with an abundance of button replacements. The first one runs okay and has EU Concave Button replacements. The other one is an utter death trap piece of trash, and for some reason on the First Floor has a Series 1 Call Panel... huh???

This is the 4th Known Set of Otis Luxury Elevators in NC. The others are at 6000 Fairview & the main Northlake Mall elevator (which I have filmed both), and then the Parking Deck of Carillon Tower (the main tower is unsurprisingly private). What do all of these have in common? They are all in the Charlotte area, and so is this set at the Arlington, making this the 4th Known Otis Luxury of both Charlotte and the whole state of NC!
Anyways, this set is a lot easier to access than I thought, and this set serves the offices. These are pretty efficient, smooth, and fast. The only thing I did notice is that it sometimes randomly inputs floors in, mostly on the right cab. I don't know if that's due to it registering calls from other floors, the floors they park on, or if it's a glitch, but that seems to be the only problem. These are pretty awesome regardless!
There is another set of 2 Otis Luxuries here (I assume), but they are private as they are attached to the residential part of The Arlington. They serve an impressive 24 floors at the pathetically slow speed of 350 FPM.

You guys have no fricking idea how long I've been waiting to ride this. This building was closed in 2020 due to you know what, and only opened a few months. However, since a tree hit the building in November due to a violent wind storm, they spent several months slowly fixing the windows that were shattered and repairing the roof as well and NOW it's finally open. Browsing NC Elevator Records in my off time, I learned that the Elevator Brand was Park, which I have never heard.
This Elevator is a bit more on the basic and boring looking side unfortunately with only Call Panels and the Main Cab Panel, but makes up with some very unusual Fixtures! We got Square Grey Buttons! I don't know who made these Fixtures, but I think these likely could be Arrowheart since DieselDucy rode a 3rd Party Elevator one with Arrowheart Fixtures that had a Floor Indicator that had these exact Grey Squares. For some reason, the Call Panel Buttons off camera light up (so does the In Use Light), but none of the Cab Buttons do.
Generally surprised they decided to go with a Hydraulic Elevator considering most elevators in Downtown are Traction, but good lord, ITS SO MFING SLOW, somehow even a bit slower than the Otis Series M2 at the Carolina Place Mall. Not only that, the motor is more on the mute side too. This would be a 10/10 Cab if the Elevator had more going on in the cab and picked up drastic speed. The only thing really saving this is the fixtures, particularly the Odd Call Panels, which are really cool and would've shown them in action, but I almost got busted and made a run for it, so that's unfortunate.

Also known as Whitehall Corporate Center/Office Building 4.
This is the service elevator of 3701 Arco Corp. It seems to be a bit more glitchier than the main set, but seems to run fine for the most part.
FUN FACT: All elevators on the Whitehall Corporate Center Property are Tractions and all go the same speed of 350 FPM regardless of floors or brand.

This were supposedly Westinghouse according to the records, and they got a crappy Schindler HXPress mod with HT VR/Adam's around Circa 2014-2017, which is the absolute worst era to get a HXPress mod. This elevator is disgusting and the elevator looks like a tin can. Very jolty, too.
The main hotel interior elevators were Schindler TXPress Modded Westinghouses Tractions with Innovation Security, but due to the amount of employees there, I did not risk a ride for some boring DeInnovated elevators.

Well finally! I got to check out one of The Elevator Filmers biggest Hot Spots of Gatlinburg, Gatlinburg Town Square! There is a major attraction I refuse to go to now because it turns out, Park Vista's Custom Impulses have been COMPLETELY BEEN FUCKED OVER RUINED, AND THYSSENKRAPPED? ON OF FUCKING COURSE. But that's a salt mound for another time.
Back to Gatlinburg Town Square, let's start off with one of the two least interesting elevators compared to the ?️?️?️?️?️'s we'll see later. This Elevator is kinda tucked in the back as I didn't see it until I explored the area. It's a Basic Series 1's with some very sketchy noises happening sometimes. It would be cool if it wasn't for that, but this and the next cab still pale in comparison to the ?️?️?️?️?️'s.

Okay, a lot of people have ridden this including DieselDucy, but let's be real here, no on has ridden this at all recently, even some of the recent visitors to the Asheville area forgot this gem existed. It's been since 2018 since anyone has documented this cab, so it's my turn!
Okay, what else should I add to this cab that everyone hasn't said already? Not much really. I mean the cab design is a bit on the basic side, yeah, but that's pretty much for the best I guess. Oh well.
Okay, now for the obvious stuff, THIS CAB IS WAY PAST EPIMAZING!!!!! This is my first gated cab and I'm thrilled this is the first one I've ridden! The gate is automatic, which means it closes and opens based on operations from the Main Panel, however it's a bit violent with closing. Despite that, the fixtures are beautiful and still original! The cab runs perfectly for its age, which is rather surprising! This is definitely a cab I'll be constantly visiting from time to time for the 2 years I'm up near it! What an absolute treasure this cab is! I hope people will never forget this cab and should come ride it themselves!

I noticed this elevator here in 2021, but it was closed off to the public. Now it's back in operation! This is a standard TK New Traditional Install. All buttons remain, however one has a metal ring replacement since the old plastic one fell off more than likely. This elevator is in pristine shape, but running condition could be a lot better.

So story time: I came across this building on Loopnet that showed 1994 Dover Elevators. They had Impulse on the inside apparently, but they had Traditional on the outside, including the Rare Wedge Indicators, and they were traction, too. So then I come here and instead find out these were ruined by ThyssenKrapp a few years back. I was fucking pissed.
Oh, would you be surprised that this mod sucks dick? No? Me neither.
This mod is only a few years old and is already falling apart. The controller is super glitchy, as you can see that the buttons take a second or two to register the call. Sometimes, you need to press the button a few times to register the call completely, which is stupid. Not only that, most if not all the buttons feel like they are about to fall out already, again why BS/BP Classic is the worst quote on quote "Vandal Resistant" button to ever be shat out. This mod is fucking worthless, not even the TK (Generic) Voice can save this monstrosity.
