Indian Almond Leaves (Catappa / Ketapang) from Filterpro.co.uk
Video explaining the uses and benefits of Almond Leaves (Terminalia catappa) in an aquarium. They are mostly used to condition water for breeding and also prevent against fungus and bacteria for the following species: Amazonian fish (e.g. discus, dwarf cichlids, tetras) Betta (fighting fish) Livebearers Shrimps Gouramis Killifish The leaves release a wealth of trace elements which benefit plants and micro-organisms in the aquarium environment and the tannins which are released help to promote fin repair and disease prevention. There are much better alternatives than this filter available at a fraction of the price - check out some of the recommendations and associated videos below:
Oase Filtosmart 60 (Amazon): https://geni.us/BGo2O
It is now a ridiculous price on Amazon and still has no cradle to hold it on the back of the tank....
All Pond Solutions HOB-500 (Amazon): https://geni.us/Q4AI37t

Seachem Tidal 55 HOB filter (Amazon): https://geni.us/9fEuQ
Seachem Tidal 55 upgrade video: https://bit.ly/3I36ism
The good Oase range of external filters is the Biomaster / Biomaster Thermo filters - if you want a great filter for a medium to large tank then I would recommend those.
Avoid the Filtosmart range.
Oase Biomaster 600 canister filter (Amazon): https://geni.us/TBBKDhz

Oase Biomaster 850 canister filter (Amazon): https://geni.us/Yzrg3UG

The Biomaster filters are in very short supply due to their popularity - if they're sold out it is still worth checking out the reviews for them on Amazon from people who have bought and used them.

A full cycle is completed by bacteria - the aerobic part of biological filtration which processes ammonia to nitrite and nitrite to nitrate followed by an anaerobic part which processes nitrate into soluble nitrogen which bubbles off to the atmosphere.
Therefore it requires a suitable amount of excellent quality filter media to be able to provide the environment for both aerobic AND anaerobic bacteria - that is what Biohome filter media does perfectly but even with such good media there are limitations and we recommend the following amounts for different stocking scenarios:
(1 US Gallon = 3.8 litres)
(1kg = 2.2 lbs)
Average community tropical aquarium = 1kg per 100 litres
Average coldwater aquarium = 1kg - 1.5kg per 100 litres
Predator aquarium = 1.5kg - 2kg per 100 litres
Large cichlid aquarium = 1.5kg - 2kg per 100 litres
Malawi / Tanganyikan aquarium = 1.5kg - 2kg per 100 litres
Marine aquarium = 1.5kg - 2kg per 100 litres
Average mixed fish

Link to LItheli's e-wagon campaign: https://litheli.us/
Link if you want to participate in the commission group: https://ewagon-w1pro.kickbooster.me/boost (I don't participate in that and will get no commission if you order an E-wagon) I will never take commission or payment from companies who want me to feature products on my channels as I only feature products I will genuinely use myself.
The full capacity of the Litheli Eclair 1000 power station plus the removable batteries is 912wh + 74wh + 74wh (1060wh total).
This is a fantastic folding wagon and having the added benefit of being battery assisted means that it is a seriously good choice for carp / coarse fishermen who have a nation of gear to transport from car to waters edge or for campers, camper van owners, people carting loads of gear down to the beach or anyone wanting to easily shift 60+kg of gear from one place to another.
I'll personally be using this to cart all my gardening tools from Litheli (when they become available to buy in the UK) to every part of my garden for easier maintenance - I can't wait for them to become available and show you guys watching my channel.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the power station become available world wide as it brings something extra to the saturated market which so many people will appreciate and make genuine use of. Having the ability to charge and remove battery packs is great if you've got Litheli gardening tools so I wish them all the best with the launch and for the future.
During the testing for this video I loaded the E-wagon up with approx. 100kg of logs plus a 90kg fat man and it managed to travel under nothing more than battery power no problem - that's over 3x more than the recommended carry weight. This is a good product.
Check out the Litheli website for full details on products, prices and release information.
After shooting this video I found an adapter which allows me to connect the cable from a solar panel to the XT-60 input on the Litheli power station.
It can be found here: https://geni.us/cL3iIs
I assume that the power station will come with the necessary cables at launch - I was reviewing a model prior to full launch (it is / was an Indiegogo project).
This is the step up / step down transformer I was using in the power station video (because I have the US version and am in the UK): https://geni.us/lBW9Hv1
As far as prepping is concerned I'd rate power generation and storage as being way up there (probably behind guns and general hunting / survival / food production skills) in importance and that's why I review so many power generation and storage options on my YouTube channels .... YouTube doesn't like guns, lol
Thanks for watching - see you next time.
Some of the links above may be to my affiliate programs on Amazon and Ebay so they will throw a few pennies my way if you make a purchase - it costs you nothing extra and helps towards keeping the lights on in my bunker.

#shorts A 300x view of Biohome Ultimate
http://www.filterpro.co.uk
Biohome Ultimate is made from different size sand particles and provides a perfect (Natural) home for bacteria to colonize. The variable pore size, tunnels and internal caves are suited to aerobic bacteria (for processing ammonia and nitrite) living near the outer edges and anaerobic bacteria (for processing of nitrate) deeper into the structure.
It basically does the job of a deep sand bed or live rock but in a safe environment with none of the risks.
When ammonia, nitrite AND nitrate is processed it is a full cycle.
Most filters and filter media only allow for half a job which results in high nitrates which have a long term debilitating effect on the fish .
The eyes don't lie and when you get a zoomed in view of filter media you can make your own decisions......why do no other channels show INSIDE filter media they (are often paid to) promote?
Because "trust the science".
Nope, trust what you see.

A guide to how much media to use for various stocking scenarios to achieve a FULL CYCLE can be found on the Q&A page of the FilterPro site: http://www.filterpro.co.uk as well as lots of other useful information.
Avoid using conditioners which bind / detoxify / remove ammonia, nitrite and nitrate as they prevent bacteria populations from thriving (by starving them). A normal water conditioner makes the water safe for life and allows the bacteria to achieve a full population in line with the available food.

Moray 700 link?: Don't even consider buying this...it is awful...
Biohome products: http://www.filterpro.co.uk
Small mesh bags for media: http://geni.us/DtoexHC
This Moray 700 filter in its standard form is an atrocity and I have no idea how Aqua One can put their name to this and then also produce the really great Aquis range of canister filters.
I had the pleasure of filming a new episode of this series yesterday where I pimped an Aquis 1250 and I had to keep reminding myself that it was from the same manufacturer which also sells the Moray 700. Even with some improvements to make the Moray 700 better it's nowhere near perfect but at least it will give you an idea of what can be done with it.
I'd much rather talk about the Aquis 1250. It's good:

Aquis 1250 on Ebay: https://ebay.to/2woDKJw
This series of videos is all about trying to squeeze more efficiency out of internal and external aquarium filters which generally have a limited filtering capacity - If you have a filter you'd like me to feature in a video then please contact me on:

Anyone who sends a filter will have it upgraded and returned to them for free and the only cost you will pay is how much it costs to ship it to me - I'm helping to boost your filter and the resulting videos will hopefully be useful to viewers all over the world so it's a win/win.
*Please do not send any filters without contacting me first as I want to try and cover every type of filter, not 20 of the same make and model*
Due to the high international shipping cost I am currently only taking filters from the UK but I'm hoping that as this series progresses a useful database of knowledge will be built up which will help viewers understand how their filters work, the limitations and the steps you could take to improve filtering capacity and efficiency.
The goal with any filter is to try and achieve FULL CYCLE filtration which is the reduction in ammonia, nitrite AND nitrate - if you look anywhere online you'll see people tell you that the nitrogen cycle in an aquarium ends with the production of nitrate which is removed by regular (often large) water changes.
That is HALF the cycle and is done by AEROBIC bacteria which favors highly oxygenated conditions and is very easy to grow on any surface.
The last part of the cycle (reduction in nitrate) is completed by ANAEROBIC bacteria which favors an environment which is very low or devoid of oxygen. It takes filter media with a very specific internal structure to support both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria to allow for full cycle filtration but a suitably sized, well set up filter, will allow the full cycle to complete which results in more stable water conditions and less water cha
