How can I find God’s will? Paul said, 1 Corinthians 16:9, For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.
Here is Paul, taking the Gospel to people devoted to the worship of idols. God gave Paul a wide open door at heathen Ephesus, yet faced the makers of idols who were opposed to the message. Acts 19:24-35.
The door is open wide for us. God has given us an opening – a harvest field of ripened grain. May we, like ready labourers, help bring in the harvest of souls.
Many souls are lost in heathen darkness in the concrete jungle we call home. Our city is filled with worshippers of false gods. Yet there is an opening here. The door of salvation offered is still open.
Don’t miss the open doors God gives you through life.
The door was open on the ark - but it was for a limited time only. Ultimately as Noah and his company entered the door of the ark, it says, Genesis 7:16 …the LORD shut him in.
The Lord Jesus is the Ark. There is a time when God will shut the door of salvation. He will shut in the saved, and shut out the lost, in judgment.
The Lord opens the door of faith... It tells of how, Acts 14:27 God opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.
The Lord opens the door of the Word of God… As Paul tells, 2 Corinthians 2:12 …when I came to Troas to preach Christ's gospel… a door was opened unto me of the Lord.
Let us pray for the Lord to open doors for us - as Paul, in Colossians 4:3, Pray for us, that God would open unto us a door for the Word.
The Lord opens the door of the Power of God. As the Lord tells the church of Philadelphia: Revelations 3:7-8 …he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; (8) I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
God will open the door - He is sovereign over our work and lives. The Lord is the One who opens doors, and He is the One who closes them...
The open door is great and effectual. It represents an opportunity to serve. We have opportunity to receive God's blessing and providence. May we be alert to opportunities our Lord brings our way. Let's seize the opportunity to serve.
When you step out for God you may face opposition to the work of the Gospel. Paul tells of many adversaries – yet he counted opposition as a reason to stay - not to leave.
Many resist the gospel still. They fight God. People can be hostile to this message and its messenger. When God provides opportunity - setting open a great and effectual door - we can also see an increased opposition to the gospel. Opposition can actually be an evidence that the Holy Spirit is at work. Don’t be deterred by opposition. Let it galv

The word “angel” means “messenger”. Angels are a distinct order of beings, superior to man, created to operate in God’s behalf, and serve a special purpose in His plan for the ages.
God is called “the LORD of hosts” - commander of the angelic armies. Angels are called a “host”.
Angels appear to be organised into various ranks and orders and positions. Michael is called the Archangel or chief angel.
Angels are spirits but can take on physical form.
The Angel of the LORD - can be a theophany, the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.
The Seraphims are always worshipping God.
The Cherubims are mentioned in 15 books of the Bible.
All angels were created good. They were morally clean and sinless. One third of the angels fell with Lucifer, and became demons (Rev 12:4).
To be “demonised” is to “have” a devil or an unclean spirit.
God's Kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. The devil's kingdom is temporary, and its demise is imminent. God's Kingdom is universal; the devil's kingdom is confined to this world and limited in its control here.
Demons are spirit beings. Devils are fallen angels that sinned and left their first habitation whether free or bound. Unclean spirits are mentioned 20 times in the New Testament. They can work miracles and teach false doctrines.
Satan and his demons are working behind the scene within political governments, in determining the philosophy, course, and actions of world powers. A spiritual world system extends Satan's influence through demons and men.
Satan and his demons oppose God, promoting rebellion, slander, idolatry, rejecting grace; and promoting false religions and cults. Demons blind men to spiritual truth in Christ and distract them to perversions of the truth.
A Christian cannot be possessed by a demon since he is indwelt by the Holy Spirit. However, a believer can be the target of demonic activity. Demonisation is where an evil spirit inhabits a human; invading the body, most likely the control centres of the brain that affect his mind, behaviour, and physical strength.
The Christian has the Holy Spirit within him. Demons on the other hand inhabit the world and those of the world.
There are various false ideas, such as "Binding" and rebuking Satan. Also the idea of "inherited curses" or generational curses. The best way to help people who are under the bondage and control of demons is to preach the gospel, and pray for them. Only the gospel of Christ can break Satan’s fetters. The gospel is “the power of God unto salvation,” and this includes deliverance from demonic possession and control. The gospel is most powerful to deliver a person not only from sin, but also from Satan. When a person trusts Christ as his Lord and Saviour, his sins are forgiven, and he is made a child of God.
Once the Holy Spirit indwells a person, the demons will have to depart. Darkness cannot fight Light. “Greater is he (ie, the Holy Spirit) that is in you, than he (ie, Satan) that is in the world” (1 John 4:4).
The Lord has made provision of victory: this is the victory that overcomes the world—our faith.
We have provision of victory. We do not overcome by our works, by the energy of the flesh, or by our sincerity, or by our effort, or by our will power because we are powerless. Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Satan is a defeated foe.
In the New Testament we are never instructed or commanded to cast out or bind demons. We defeat Satan not by rebukes, but by keeping ourselves holy, and by faithfully preaching His Word and putting on the whole armour of God.
We are taught (in the only three places in the New Testament where instruction concerning dealing with Satan is found) to resist the Devil (I Pet. 5:6-9; James 4:7 and Eph. 6:10-18).
The Armour of God teaches us how to resist by putting on the armour of God. The Belt of Truth is the objective truth and final authority of the Word of God. The Breastplate of Righteousness is the righteousness of Christ and is credited to us without merit on our part when we trust in Christ for the forgiveness of sin, and we choose to live "rightly" also. The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace - what assures us of victory is that we have peace with God. The Shield of Faith speaks of our "living faith"; a trust in the promises and power of God. The Helmet of salvation - we have assurance of our salvation. We have the Bible, the Sword of the Spirit.
Destiny of demons: Temporarily some are confined. For instance, some who were free during the lifetime of Christ were cast into the abyss and will be loosed to do their work during the coming tribulation days. Eventually all demons will be cast with Satan into the Lake of Fire forever.

Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Were it Not for Grace, and Grace Greater than our sin
Sung by Orlando Pacis
Credit to Songwriters: David Hamilton / Phill Mchugh
Time measured out my days
Life carried me along
In my soul I yearned to follow God
But knew I'd never be so strong
I looked hard at this world
To learn how heaven could be gained
Just to end where I began
Where human effort is all in vain
Were it not for grace
I can tell you where I'd be
Wandering down some pointless
Road to nowhere
With my salvation up to me
I know how that would go
The battles I would face
Forever running but losing the race
Were it not for grace
So here is all my praise
Expressed with all my heart
Offered to a Friend who took my place
And ran a course I could not start
And when He saw in full
Just how much His love would cost
He still went the final mile
Between me and heaven
So I would not be lost

Lessons we can learn from the life of the Proverbs 31 woman.
Proverbs 31:10-31 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. 12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. ... 29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. 30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
This virtuous woman is a godly wife and mother. Proverbs 31 tells of the importance of motherhood. This woman shows us how to live a life that honours the Lord.
We honour mothers for their love and sacrifice - as you fulfill your calling as a mother. Mothers are our first teachers - our protectors, our role models.
The woman of Proverbs 31 is a manufacturer, an importer, manager, realtor, farmer, seamstress, upholsterer, and merchant.
Who can find a virtuous woman - for her price is far above rubies. You just can't put a price tag on a godly woman. Her strengthen and her dignity do not come from her amazing achievements - her true strength lies in her fear of God. She is a God-fearing woman.
This word virtuous can also mean valiant and strong, excellent and mighty. Her fear of the Lord is her real strength. It's the foundation of her life.
The godly wife and mother is a precious treasure. The Virtuous Woman is trustworthy and reliable. She's faithful and devoted in this great work that is marriage and family. Making a a marriage work is work indeed.
She serves with the right spirit. She is a willing worker. She is a hard-working and diligent woman.
Motherhood is a God-honoured role. This woman strives for excellence. She’s a good manager in managing her household. She's got common sense and also godly sense. She is wise in spending her money wisely, as a wise steward of the resources that God has entrusted her with.
She is industrious, diligent, and hard-working. The virtuous woman has many works:
- She sews v. 13, 19, 22 - She selects wool… and works with eager hands.
- She shops v. 14 - bringing her food from afar..
- She cooks v. 15 - She provides food for her family.
- She gardens v. 16 - She plants a vineyard.
She girdeth her loins with strength. She is a strong woman. She rolls up her sleeves and gets things done.
She takes care of her family. And, also, she stretcheth out her hand to the poor. She has a heart to care, to reach out, to care for others. She's generous in her giving. She looks out for others; for people in need.
She is a provider. She supports her family. The godly woman is wise. She plans for the future. She’s got the sense to conduct the financial affairs of the home, and apply herself and her time wisely, to benefit her home.
She's got a strength of faith. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. The fear of God is what gives her the strength and power beyond what she is humanly able to achieve.
Her words are wise. The godly woman watches her words, and she speaks wise words.
She's able to make wise and sound decisions because she seeks the counsel of God. The virtuous woman is kindm generous and considerate.
She's a homemaker. She's not idle, but rather she's industrious.
She's a woman of dignity. She brings God honour with her life. She knows God's guidance for her life.
This is a woman respected by her children. Proverbs 31:28, Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Most of all, the Proverbs 31 Woman is a woman of faith. She seeks to honour her Lord - in all that she does, fulfilling her God-given roles as a wife and mother, with love and devotion. Her life is marked by the fear of the Lord - she gives reverence to her Lord.
She recognises the importance of her relationship with God. She loves the Lord. She strives to live a life that honours and glorifies God.
It says that the godly mother bears fruit from her life.
This world would discount the value of a mother. Yet God highly esteems her.
May God bless all the mothers and mother-figures and give them the strength and wisdom they need to fulfill their important roles. Amen.
