Well guys after the appetizer that was the Ultimate Fantastic Four issues, it's time to get to the main course with the first Marvel Zombies mini-series
Written by Zombie Expert himself Robert Kirkman, fresh off the start of the Walking Dead series, Kirkman took the concept of still sentient undead marvel characters and did something fresh with it...have THEM be the main focus of the series! Yeah instead of heroes fighting the zombies, we get the zombies trying to find food! And they get what they want (and more than they bargin for) when the Silver Surfer arrives, heralding the coming of Galactus! (Yeah this universe doesn't operate on a consistent timeline)
After devouring the surfer (not an easy feat) the zombies then have to deal with the devourer of worlds himself! Who's hunger is greater? Who will triumph? Well seeing as how there's so many more Marvel Zombies sequels I'll let you figure that out. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AR5WBqCV3Nc

I saw Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire this Weekend and I personally enjoyed it! It felt like a good follow up to Afterlife. It wasn't perfect however. It had some serious pacing issues, but other than that the acting, writing, effects, action, all of it was very strong.
The Spengler family returns to the iconic New York City firehouse where the original Ghostbusters have taken ghost-busting to the next level. When the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must unite to protect their home and save the world from a second ice age.

Well guys it's time I talk about Tom King now, one of the more recent writers but also one that, apparently, is an acquired taste. From his work on The Vision at Marvel, to his stint on Grayson Super Spy, to his Mister Miracle, Batman, and Heroes in Crisis runs. People either love his work, or they hate it. Where do I stand? Well given how my Creator Spotlights are about the positives I think it's obvious. And I go on for over an hour talking about everything he's done that I own! And to top it all off, I've got a special guest at the end giving their two cents on Tom as well! So stick around to see who it is! Enjoy!

Ingrid and I are back again with another Gamera Movie Marathon as we rewind now to the original 8 movies of what is known as the Showa Era. We'll be going over it's highs and it's incredibly painful lows. Now for the record, we will be going with the AiP dubs/re-edits of the movies when applicable. The Sandy Frank dubs were just too corny (but we know at least one movie we'll have no choice but to use that one).
Continuing onto the sixth movie in our marathon, we get into what was surpisingly one of the better movies in this era! Basically this movie feels like what if director Noriaki Yuasa directed Barugon (the only showa film he didn't do) and what we get is a return to the darker type of stories, with an emphasis on the kids (possibly one of the better ones after Eiichi from Gyaos and Tora from The Brave) but not over doing it like what was done in Viras!
So what monster do we get now? We are introduced to Jiger, an ancient monster kept asleep by a statue called the Devil's Whistle from a place called Wester Island (Get it...like Easter Island) but when the statue is removed to use for an upcoming International Expo in Japan, the creature is awakened and goes on a rampage.
This movie is tied with Gyaos for most monster battles in the showa era (four total) as Gamera and Jiger put up a great fight. Jiger's attacks are deadly and do kill people (turning them into Skeletons) but to make things worse, at one point Jiger impregnates Gamera with an Offspring that's also a parasite! It takes the kids to kill it and save the giant turtle!
This movie was surprisingly well done! Ingrid and I did not expect the level of quality and level of darkness it reached (not that it was bleak but it was still darker than some of the prior films) and the monster action was very well done. It also gave us the most satisfying monster death in the entire showa era!
This is a highly recommended part of the series! Check it out if you ever get the chance.
