Bible Reading - 2 Samuel 1-4, Psalm 14, 21, James 3
My sister invited me and my parents to join her in a Bible reading plan this year. The plan goes somewhat chronologically through the Bible. There are 5 readings per week, allowing for missed days or breaks. If you wish to join along, here's the reading plan: https://www.intoyourbible.org/read-through-the-bible. If anyone is active in chat, I'll respond to messages between chapters or sections of reading. At the end I'll share a short vlog report if anything new is going on. Bible text is from the Berean Standard Bible (BSB). The BSB was generously dedicated to the public domain in 2023 and can be quoted in any form without prior permission from the publisher. https://www.bereanbible.com. I'm not a well-educated Bible answer person. Here are some resources for those with deep question about the Christian faith: https://biblethinker.org Mike Winger, https://www.gotquestions.org. May the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ guide you into all truth. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
Normally I don't like to show myself too much in my videos because who wants to see that? This time I thought it was funny and interesting mainly because of how dusty the trail was. It made me think of Warner Bros cartoons such as Road Runner and Tasmanian Devil. Searching for music from the old cartoons I settled quickly on this unrelated song, "April Showers" by Al Jolson. Of course the music is sped up a bit to match the length of the video. I don't usually run down the trail when hiking. This section was pretty steep coming down from a butte, and I decided to jog as fast as I safely could without tripping over my own feet.
I juggle a soccer ball for exercise only. I don't know any fancy tricks. If I'm not out hiking, I want to do this more often for balance, coordination and fitness. I'll attempt to quickly get my wireless mic, TTS and the Insta360 wide angle camera set up. Insta360 didn't work, so I went with my phone for video, and I played with my gimbal a bit. For music I listen to retro video game music from the 16-bit era.

A couple days ago I noticed a problem with the current iteration of my book plough. The vertical posts aren't wide enough to keep the metal sliders flat. I'll use my table saw, drill press, belt sander and other tools to cut some bamboo boards to serve as flat surfaces for the metal cross members. I went to the local hardware store and got some small screw parts to hopefully piece everything together. I also picked up my new phone, so that means the possibility for IRL streams in the near future. Kick staff was able to get rid of the bot followers from a few days ago, so I'm back down to where I should be for a small channel like mine. A friend told me it was a problem across the site on that particular day, which I hadn't otherwise heard about. After a short time working outside with my table saw, it started to snow, and it was near dark. I took all my tools and finished the book plough construction inside while pondering the relativity of time. For music I listen to retro video game music from the 16-bit era.

Continuing where I left off. I use CaptureOne to develop raw photos, Hugin to stitch panoramas, and any further editing in Affinity Photo and/or Krita. To manipulate EXIF tags I use a free command line program called exiftool.

It's finally time to insulate the shop. I'll use standard roll insulation for 2x4 walls, along with a bottle of foam insulation that I'll use around windows and outlets. This is my first time insulating anything. I simply watched a few Youtube videos to understand the basics. It's a fairly easy DIY project that just about anyone can do.
After the first hike that I livestreamed I did another quick one nearby. There wasn't enough time to set up a livestream for this one, plus the signal in the area kinda sucked. I recorded the hike with my cell phone and gimbal instead. It's not the usual 360 video format.
Part 3, continuing where I left off in Metroid for NES. I don't remember if I played this back in the day, I think not. I know I played Super Metroid on SNES several times. This is a reskinned version with the same gameplay as the original NES game, but with renewed visuals and sound. I won't be following any walkthrus and by no means have this game memorized, so I'll probably do a lot of aimless wandering. Turns out I beat the game on this third episode. After reviewing the changes this version of Metroid enacts, I probably can't officially say I beat the original Metroid... but on the other hand, none of the improvements make it "easier" just less time-consuming. For example, all the "secret" walls and floors to other rooms are shown on the map, and the original didn't have a map. There is also a continue feature in this version which wasn't in the original. But from what I read, the original gives a password when you die, which might basically be the same, just longer to get back to where you were on the map, etc. I'll probably call it good though and not play the original NES without enhancements. My curiosity and fun factors are satisfied enough for having played it in this form.
