Rosie, Randy and at the very end a glimpse of Kimmie. Rosie is a Kodiak bear, like Jimbo . Randy is a Syrian like Leo. Note the different colored white “collar” on Randy. All the male Syrian bears have that.
Uh oh. The word has gotten out. Now wild animals are trying to break in here for Susan to care for them. We were afraid this would happen once the word started to get around.

From Susan:
Seven of the squirrels that we have came because the trees that their nests were in were cut down. When you think about the extreme force of the tree hitting the ground it is amazing that these tiny little babies survive. Only one died. But this little squirrel has been struggling. The only time she is not sleeping is when she’s drinking her formula. She is such a messy eater that by the time she is done, we are both covered in milk. Her brothers and sisters are way ahead of her eating solid food and all playing on the branches. I’ve been worried if she could survive on her own.
The last few days she is drinking much better and this morning she was up playing on the branches for a long time! So hopefully we’ve turned the corner. Amazing that they are not all killed when the tree hits the ground.

Leo enjoys sleeping outdoors at night especially in summer. He digs a hole for his bed. Starting to get cold now....wonder how much longer he will want to do this!

Jim ran into the house and told Susan that Sonya was swimming with a duck. So Susan grabbed her phone and ran out there. Sonya was swimming with a mother and baby! She filmed them for a little bit but the mother was not happy, so they got Sonya and the rest of the girls to go inside. The mother flew out of the enclosure and the baby was small enough to fit through the chain link fence. Sonya enjoyed that.

Their play is so fierce when with each other, but you’ll note they never play this hard when with Susan or Jim. They know they can’t handle this sort of thing, and are always more gentle. I assume you all know which bears these are?

The bears are getting lazier every day. Bears in captivity usually do NOT hibernate, but they do slow down a great deal, eat much less and sleep much more. Rosie is always the first one to go outside each day though.
