The crypto community is waiting on a ruling from Judge Analisa Torres of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. In the meantime, a number of repeated questions and speculations have surfaced on social media and on podcasts about why (or if?) the ruling is being delayed, or is the judge being influenced, is she corrupt, has all of this been fake somehow and other kinds of conjecture based on considerable frustration. At the same time, for many in the community this is the first complex federal civil case they have ever followed so closely and might be learning a lot about how the justice system works.
John Deaton, the founder and host of #CryptoLawTV and a former prosecutor, tackles all those questions, separates the facts from the myths, and gives his take as an experienced litigator on what is going on and why.

The SEC has faced increasing pressure in federal courts in the last week, with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce joining other amici in supporting Coinbase's writ of mandamus against the agency. Yesterday, the SEC replied to Coinbase, declaring that it doesn't need to conduct rulemaking on crypto and it intends to continue pursuing regulation by enforcement in the courts instead. Also, government watchdog Empower Oversight filed another lawsuit against the SEC for illegally refusing to comply with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and producing public documents requested by the group about potential conflicts of interest among SEC officials who regulated crypto. PLUS - John Deaton is joined by Brad Kimes (@digperspectives on YouTube), the organizer of XRP Vegas 2023. John and Brad review what happened at the big meet-up and what it meant for the XRP community.
