The INSANE REVENGE Story to DESTROY The USS Philadelphia | Animated History
The USS Philadelphia was one of the US Navy’s best warships, but it ran aground and was captured by Tripolitan Pirates during the Barbary Wars. The Continental Navy couldn't stand for that so they hatched an insane revenge scheme. Stephen Decatur and a disguised crew sailed into Tripoli Harbor to light the USS Philadelphia on fire. If the United States couldn't have the ship - no one could.
The History of the USS Philadelphia is one of History's Great Adventure stories.
A short animated scene from Julius Caesar's Gallic wars. Eagle-bearers played an important roll for the ancient Roman army, and although this particular legionnaire's name is forgotten to time, this moment is directly retold by Caesar himself in Caesar's commentaries.

Mary Fields was the first black woman to deliver mail in the US. She lived in Cascade Montana and became a local legend.
"Born a slave somewhere in Tennessee, Mary lived to become one of the freest souls ever to draw a breath, or a .38." - Gary Cooper (1959)

I like to think about what his entrance would look like if he were a wrestler today.
He lived during Hadrian's rule. It is unknown why Flamma chose to remain a gladiator, although I've read speculation about either possible debts or just love of the celebrity status.

Hardtack AKA Sea Biscuit AKA Molar Breakers AKA Worm Castles.
Yummy!
Honestly, the hardtack was not as bad as I thought it would be, I definitely made mine too thin which may have increased its enjoyability.
If you want to try some for yourself I pulled the recipe from here: http://wonderlandrecipes.com/2016/11/17/ships-biscuits-make-hardtack/
Although I have been informed for a more authentic experience I should have used whole grain flour instead of all-purpose. Maybe next time

Yale refers to this shield as "the only known surviving example of the semicylindrical shield"
However I should note other pieces of shields have been found but not enough to reconstruct. Such as a recovered shield boss which is currently in the British museum.
There is also an oval style shield that was found that may be roman but it's unclear. Thats the Scutum of Fayum.
The shield in the video was found in Dura-Europos, in modern day Syria.
