Learn how to fix a damaged Ethernet port (also applies to RJ-45 / Ethernet keystones) in this short video! We received a computer that kept dropping it's link to the network. By the time it reached the shop it wouldn't connect at all which is when we diagnosed the port as the issue.
Thank you for watching our content! This is Tech Savvy's first repair video (second in total). I'd like to post little updates here as we move along. We had a clip in this video that used our lapel mic (finally). Our next video; part 2 of our "How to Build a Computer" series should have much better audio then the first!
Learn how to make your own Ethernet Cable! Save yourself some money and buy a box of CAT6 cable and RJ45 fittings to make your own cables. If you use a lot of cables or are commonly the "IT" person in the family circle then this can be very worth while to learn.
Here are the names of the tools so you can search and buy from your own preferred stores:
Flush Cutters, Wire Strippers, Ratcheting Modular Crimper (or RJ45 Crimper)
***Don't skimp on the crimping tool, it will cost you in bad crimps***
Also I use boxes of 1000ft Pure Copper CAT6, Stay away from CCA Wire. Plenum isn't better in terms of performance, it has a different jacket that meets stricter fire codes usually for commercial buildings.
The fittings are RJ45 fittings.
Thank you for watching our content! I have been away for a bit but I'm working on recording the things I do around the office. It's always the editing that's time consuming but I'm getting quicker at it as time goes.
