A battery-powered laptop typewriter - 1987 Brother EP5
The concept of a battery-powered laptop typewriter isn't as odd as it might seem now. In 1987, it was a much lighter and cheaper alternative to a laptop computer for writing, journalism, and business. And it actually does a better job of erasing mistakes than a full-size typewriter.
The 1000RL features the Tandy sound and graphics that are used by hundreds of classic PC games, as well as digital audio recording, playback, and editing, and the DeskMate graphical user interface with kitchen-themed applications that earned it the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval!

An Electrophonic R-12 stereo receiver, probably from the late 1960s or early '70s. It was a low-end model, but was still built using high-quality components. The only repair it needed was replacing the burned-out FM Stereo indicator bulb. Correction: The transformers I pointed out are actually interstage coupling transformers, not output transformers.

Of all the software based DSP audio processors available, I keep coming back to Sonos because of its ease of use, low processor requirements (it runs fine on a 500 MHz Pentium III with Windows 98), and smooth sound. It is a wideband processor, but that is not necessarily a disadvantage, as multiband processors can produce a very unpleasant sound unless you adjust them perfectly. Sonos is useful for AM and FM radio broadcasting as well as for web streams, mix CDs, and any other purpose where simple but effective audio processing is required. On the air, its sound is comparable to the Optimod 8000, CRL Amigo, Inovonics David II, and other entry-level hardware AM/FM audio processors. If you don't believe me, try it for yourself! Also, stay tuned to my music channel (vwest1ife) for some samples of Sonos in operation!

The PC Chips BKi810 Book PC is a very small desktop PC from 1999 with an Intel Celeron CPU. It lacks expansion slots, but otherwise has all the features a typical entry-level Windows PC user would've needed back then. The one I found at a thrift store is rusty and has a faulty power supply, but with a jury-rigged connection to an ATX power supply, I was able to get it working again.
