2020年7月，新世界將新巴城巴售予善水資本、漢思能源及Ascendal Group合組的新國際財團並將管理兩公司的交通運輸機構易名為匯達交通服務，新巴與新世界集團的關係從此終結，也代表了新巴即將面臨被取代的命運
2022年5月15日，隨著東鐵綫過海，新巴開辦1M線
同年7月，行政會議批准2023年7月1日起新巴與城巴的專營權合併
2023年3月，隨著新巴最後的路線694S的開辦，1M也隨之成為新巴最後一條新開辦的全日港島區路線。
7月1日開始，路線也隨之而轉由城巴經營。

新巴，和她在港島區開始的25年風光，就此終結。

In July 2020, New World sells out NWFB and Citybus to a new international consortium formed by Templewater Bravo Holdings Ltd, Hans Energy and Ascendal Group, and renamed the public transport agency managing the two bus companies into "Bravo Transport Services Limited". This marked the end of relations between New World and NWFB, and marked the fate of NWFB being replaced in the future.
15 May 2022, as the East Rail Line cross-harbour section commences service, NWFB Route 1M commenced service.
In July of the same year, Executive Council approved the merger of franchised bus licences of NWFB and Citybus.
March 2023, as the last route under NWFB - Route 694S, commenced service, Route 1M became the last new whole-day HK Island route to be commenced by NWFB.
From 1 July onwards, operations of this route will be handed over to Citybus.

The past 25 glorious years for NWFB, which started from Hong Kong Island - is over.

港島半山區巴士路線1M，由新巴營辦，循環來往會展站及黃泥涌峽，為跑馬地及黃泥涌峽一帶乘客提供接駁港鐵東鐵綫之服務。

此路線為現時唯一灣仔區區內專營巴士路線，但回程於黃泥涌峽掉頭時會駛經南區而不設站。

The Hong Kong Island Mid-levels Bus Route 1M is operated by New World First Bus (NWFB). It runs circular between Exhibition Centre Station and Wong Nai Chung Gap, providing East Rail Line connections for passengers of Happy Valley and Wong Nai Chung Gap area.

This is the only Wan Chai intra-district franchised bus route at present, but enters Southern District when making u-turn for return trip at Wong Nai Chung Gap without making any stops.
