“Feel Right” by Object Heavy is a retro funky soul delight inspired by ‘Off the Wall’- era Michael Jackson merged with a 90s hip-hop sensibility. The effortless groove sets the scene for lyrical sentiments that radiate the synchronicity of meeting the person you are meant to be with at the right place at the right time. The track is the lead single off of the band’s debut record on Color Red ‘Love & Gravity’ coming out in summer 2022 produced by Kelly Finnigan of Monophonics.

In 2019, four stalwarts of the New Orleans music scene, George Gekas (The Revivalists), Alvin Ford Jr. (Ed O'Brien (EOB), PJ Morton, Raphael Saadiq, Pretty Lights Live), Paul Provosty (Lembo, Deltaphonic), and Andriu Yanovski (Boodie T.rio, Cha Wa), had an impromptu gig at The Maple Leaf in New Orleans, all called upon by Gekas. The chemistry was so undeniable, they took it to the studio and formed Pocket Protection. Today, the instrumental groove outfit releases their debut EP Volume 1 out via Color Red.
The playful song titles and nature of the project itself showcase both the individual talents of each band member while serving the greater good of the music. “We relied on intuition and each other to continue to move the music forward. It felt right when we first performed together, made sense in the studio, and will continue to as a collective idea,” says Gekas of the project.

Brendan McKinney & The 99 Brown Dogs reconnected with old friends at Shakedown Bar Vail Studio to record “We Didn’t Come This Far.” The lyrics impart a positive message of working together and staying together—a resilient message that resonates with people from all walks of life amongst a tumultuous few years of changes and isolation. The track features longtime friends and musical collaborators Scott Rednor (guitar), John Michel (drums), and Michael Jude (bass), all members of longstanding Vail-based rock band, Brothers Keeper. The track is his first release on the GO MAPS MUSIC record label housed under the parent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization MAPS MUSIC. 'Let Us In' is the debut track from Seattle based FUTURENOT feat. emcee Moe Betta and his 90's era Brooklyn Hip Hop style. Originally written by Jason & Peter, 'Let Us In' was introduced to the band as a simple hook being played in the horns. It was then arranged somewhat backwards horns first followed by rhythm section, then the song form, and the vocals last. The tune gets started with a vibe driven drone, evoking images of glitter and disco balls. Enter emcee Moe Betta and his 90's era Brooklyn Hip Hop style. The bridge takes the listener into an ethereal dreamlike space until the guitar lays down gravity and brings us back to the mothership. The intro and outro, also what we call "bookends," were written during reherasal as a whole ensemble.

Annie J’s “Light My Own Fire” is a warm, anthemic pop-soul track that was inspired by the desire to overcome self-doubt. As the third single off of her forthcoming debut solo EP ‘Get Back,’ Annie fans the flame cultivated by years of establishing her rich voice as a leading presence in the Seattle music scene lending her talents to projects that include Seattle Rock Orchestra, 45th St. Brass, and the late blues legend Cedell Davis. Annie’s creative spark and thoughtful lyrics are kindled by collaborating with top-notch Seattle musicians including Andrew Vait (Sisters, Little Wins), Chris Littlefield (Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe), Nick Foster (Nick Foster Band), Scott Paul Johnson (Hot Bodies In Motion), and Stephanie Anne Johnson (the Hidogs). Along the same lineage as Dusty Springfield, Roberta Flack, and Solange, “Light My Own Fire” is a testament that Annie is poised to blaze a path of success as her warm delivery displays both nuanced control and playfulness as she executes rich vocal runs and a stunning range.
