Stimson replied, “The president does have some authorities under the Constitution, but he’s limited by statute — not only by the Posse Comitatus Act but also by the Insurrection Act. So, he can’t just willy nilly throw the military in there to solve this problem.”

As many as 40 local television outlets and 200 Canadian radio stations could be forced to close in the next three years as the financial pressures faced by media companies intensify under the COVID-19 pandemic, suggests a new study from an industry advocacy group.
The Canadian Association of Broadcasters issued a report on Wednesday warning of potential closures and widespread job cuts as private TV and radio broadcasters face a cumulative projected revenue shortfall of up to $1.06 billion by the end of 2022.
Most vulnerable are the country's AM radio stations, the report said, as well as other independent private radio and TV operations in smaller markets across the country.

An incredible story out of Iowa, where an Ames man was sentenced to 16 years in prison for burning an LGBTQ rainbow flag.
Adolfo Martinez stole a gay pride flag flying outside a church and torched it in front of a men's strip club. NBCNews reports he was sentenced "to 15 years for the hate crime of arson and given a year for reckless use of explosives or fire and 30 days for harassment." His sentence was enhanced by the fact that he was a "habitual offender."

It’s Not the Equality Act, It’s the Homosexual Supremacy Act
The first line of the bill (“The “Equality Act”) sounds innocent enough: “To prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation, and for other purposes.”
Leftists in Congress are attempting right now to sell a lethal piece of legislation under this term in the so-called “Equality Act,” which is proposed as a revision and an improvement over Title IX of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
But there is no equality in this bill for anyone who believes that homosexuality is non-normative sexual behavior and something that should not be promoted, subsidized, and celebrated, especially in our schools.
That’s why I call this bill “The Homosexual Supremacy Act,” since it elevates homosexuality and gender confusion above anything and everything else in the moral universe. Everyone will be required to bow the knee before the Baal of Sodom or face punishment.

In what’s become standard practice in Canada, the RCMP once again usurped legislative and judicial authority. On June 14, 2017, these unelected bureaucrats issued a legal interpretation expanding the definition of the term “firearm” to include unfinished receiver blanks.
The Criminal Code of Canada, Section 2, defines the term “firearm.”
◦firearm means a barrelled weapon from which any shot, bullet or other projectile can be discharged and that is capable of causing serious bodily injury or death to a person, and includes any frame or receiver of such a barrelled weapon and anything that can be adapted for use as a firearm;
The bolded portion of that definition is where the RCMP hangs its decision to define unfinished receiver blanks as “firearms.”
By this logic, we must now classify the entire gas pipe and plumbing sections of Canadian Tire as restricted devices because they “can be adapted for use as a firearm.”

Not shocked yet? The newest tax some golden state legislators want to collect is a .4% wealth tax. The “leader” in state taxes already, this would be first-in-the nation wealth tax targeting the very wealthy. This isn’t on income they earn, mind you, but on their wealth itself. A summary of the bill says, “AB 2088 establishes a first-in-the-nation net worth tax, setting a 0.4% tax rate on all net worth above $30 million.” California Assembly member Rob Bonta, D-Oakland, proposed the legislation. The tax would be applied to the net worth of about 30,400 Californians, “raising approximately $7.5 billion annually,” the summary claims. “The tax takes into account all assets and liabilities held by an individual, globally, capturing the immense levels of accumulated wealth held by the top 0.1% of Californians.”

Overdose deaths outnumber COVID-19 deaths more than 3 to 1 in San Francisco
Drug overdose fatalities in San Francisco this year outnumbered COVID-19 deaths by a 3 to 1 margin, as deaths related to the powerful painkiller fentanyl rose.
In 2020 alone, 621 people have died from drug overdoses in San Francisco, while the number of coronavirus fatalities were 173, The Associated Press reported.
According to local reports from the San Francisco Chronicle, the city's Drug Overdose Prevention and Education (DOPE) Project used Narcan this year 3,000 times from January to November to save people who nearly died due to an overdose of fentanyl or related opioid abuse substances.

Pension and severance payments released for Canada's defeated or retired MPs
The Canadian Taxpayers Federation has released its calculations of estimated pension and severance payments paid to the 94 Members of Parliament who were either defeated or did not seek re-election in the Oct. 21 election.

Ex-senator's widow, 27, set to receive millions in pension
Former Liberal senator Rod Zimmer died Tuesday at 73, but his pension lives on. His controversial wife, Maygan Sensenberger, will collect $19,700 a year for the rest of her life, according to the Canadian Taxpayers Federation. Considering she’s only 27, that could mean millions to Canadian taxpayers.
Zimmer was long known as an athlete, fundraiser and corporate executive but he was most recently famous for his young wife and her legal troubles.
In 2012, Sensenberger was charged with causing a disturbance on a flight, for which she received a suspended sentence.

Trump draws near capacity crowd to MS Coast Coliseum
It was a late Happy New Year celebration for Donald Trump fans: More than 13,000 supporters cheered for the Republican Party's presidential front runner's conservative message at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum Saturday.
It may have been a chilly night, but the reception was warm. Paulette Delcasale flew in from Atlanta to be in Biloxi for the rally; her 10th so far.

Biden administration cancels another $5.8B in student loan debt
The U.S. Department of Education under President Joe Biden announced on Thursday that it will cancel another $5.8 billion worth of student loan debt by the end of 2021 for over 323,000 borrowers who have a total and permanent disability (TPD). The average discharged loan amount is approximately $18,000.
This is the largest student loan forgiveness measure put in place since Biden took office, the Education Department said in a press release. In total, the Biden administration has forgiven about $8.7 billion worth of student loan debt for roughly 455,000 borrowers.

Some parents are angry over a fundraiser at a public elementary school in North Carolina. Lucama Elementary School in Wilson County is raffling off a rifle.
Lucama is a rural town in North Carolina. Like many schools, Lucama Elementary is suffering from budget cuts.
"We have enough issues with guns in the schools we don't need to do a raffle with elementary school kids," Lena Collier said.
Hearing about the fundraiser in a couple of weeks, a local hunting conservation group decided to help. It offered a muzzle-loading gun to raffle off.
"Our guys are simply trying to help the kids in the community with the means they have available," explained Chris Williams with Delta Waterfowl.
The company says its motives are simple, to help children not push an agenda. But locals are reacting.
"The kids are bringing guns to school-they ain't gotta bring' em for 'em and auction 'em off," said resident Steve Sbraccia.
The school system says as long as no children sell or buy tickets, and the gun is not brought onto school property during the raffle, it is okay with it.
Originally only twenty raffle tickets were going to be printed for the gun, but there was so much interest, hundreds more have been printed and sold.

Iowa law enforcement officials are debating the wisdom of granting gun permits to blind people.
The Des Moines Register reports that Iowa law doesn't allow sheriffs to deny a permit to carry a gun in public based on physical ability.
Some sheriffs have been granting gun permits to people with visual impairments while others have been denying them.
Blind people and other Iowans can obtain the permits for carrying a weapon in public because of changes to state law that took effect in 2011.
Jane Hudson with Disability Rights Iowa said keeping legally blind people from obtaining weapon permits would violate the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Some other states, including Nebraska, require anyone applying for a gun permit to provide proof of their visual ability by supplying a driver's license or doctor's statement.
Hudson said she thinks someone could successfully challenge Nebraska's vision restriction because federal law requires states to analyze a situation individually before denying a service.
"The fact that you can't drive a car doesn't mean you can't go to a shooting range and see a target," Hudson said.
Polk County officials said they have issued weapons permits to people who can't drive legally because of vision problems at least three times. Sheriffs in Jasper, Kossuth and Delaware counties say they've also granted permits to Iowans with severe visual impairments.
