Spy X Family Op Opening 1 (English Cover And Lyrics)
Since JewTube won't let me post this to YouTube you guys on Odysee get to watch it since I'm too proud of this for YouTube to just win.
I did a subtitle of Spy X Family's opening using an English cover and lyrics by JorporXx (Mark de Groot). Wanted to try out some unique and interesting things with the subtitles like code coloring the lyrics based on what fits the characters: Pink for Anya Dark Green for Loid Red for Yor and color coded certain words that best describe the show. There's also some animation in some lyrics/words and even a little something that is practice for timing. Like how "Who we truly are!" are timed to when Loid turns the lights off so it look like the lyrics fade out with the rest of the graphics and animation.
I hope no ill-will towards to Wit Studio and CloverWorks for the video being blocked since this is a YouTube thing and not their ninjas coming after me for what is clearly fair use and I would appreciate if this video gets a lot of love because I love to do this for more animes I like with English covers that I also like.
This was a recording a did back for Sage 2017 with the than release Sonic Advance Revamped. It was meant to be uploaded back in 2017 on Youtube but I forgot to do so but since Odysee is a new start for me why not start it off with a recording I never uploaded before.
The poll ask for me to use Megami33's English cover of Shuffle and while I was in the process of doing it, I figure what if I have her voice over the original instruments used. I was going to run the original Shuffle through vocal remover until I realize SonicFan39Returns actually made an instrumental version of this song which had the back vocals in all so it wouldn't sound awkward.
I knew Megami's video had closed captions so I wanted to see if I could work with those and through that I learned, Adobe Premiere actually take en.srt files and the subtitles look really fucking good here if I must say. And as the title suggested, this is for DM Episode 49, the last of the DDM episodes, so we're going out on a high-note here. The original version sung by Masami Okui will be a separate download file.

This episode was a nightmare script wise. Literally only 10%, or maybe less, of this episode was faithful to the original script. Every other line had to be replace because none of it was faithful to the original script. It got a little more faithful towards the duel, but not by much. Even with me taking creative liberties and using some lines from the dub, I still had to replace a shit ton of dialogue, some that couldn't even make it into the actual episode.
I also experimented a bit by using some Japanese attack name like Dark Magician's Black Magic and Blue-Eyes White Dragon's Burst Stream of Destruction because I thought it sounded cool. All taken from the Uncut Dub.

This episode was really tiring I say that even though it's not as bad as Episode 129 script wise and edit wise. Having those Duel Links line came in more handle than FakeYou that seems to be allergic to small talk from Kaiba. Like his speech about Obelisk or his speech about the god's clashing. I also change how I had Kaiba speak since in the Japanese version Kaiba calls Jounouchi by his first name while in the dub Kaiba always refer to Joey by his last name Wheeler which also leads into a joke in GX.

Unlike Episode 65 I had to put in a little more effort into it, but not as much as I thought I would. Besides the usual "My Turn" and "Draw" I had to include the Synchro Chants for Stardust Dragon and Majestic Star Dragon and had to A.I. one line for Yusei's thought. But otherwise this episode stick so close to the original script that I almost didn't even bother looking at the subs because compare to GX and DM I didn't think there was much to work on here. Definitely one of my more favorite episodes to work on.
Until there are more A.I lines for the 5ds characters or I find episodes that were just as faithful as them I think this'll be the end of the 5ds dub for quite a while. Though I might do those other episodes that were on the polls someday depending on my mood.

I wanted to try my hands at Yugioh GX since I never done a thing for it, but heard rumors that GX receive the most changes out of ALL of 4kids' Yugioh animes. Yes, even more than 5ds. So this episode was hard to do. Doesn't help that FakeYou only had Jaden and Alexis, the latter whom was not in this episode. The really hard part was featuring out the effect used for Kaibaman in the dub, the second was having to keep cutting FakeYou A.I generated lines because they usually don't fit in their current form so I tried to use Duel Links lines as much as possible but you'll see how well that went.
There was two sections in this episode I couldn't save. The first being when Chazz and Syrus were fighting and the other was at the end where the script did not match the Japanese version, and because there's no A.I voice for Syrus and Chumley, worse in Chumley's case since he's not in Duel Links, there was no way I could translate those lines properly at this time.
The last thing of note is I translated the Title Card, Preview, and Next Episode Title into English. Thanks to some friends of mine I was able to match it perfectly to the original font. I don't know if I'll be doing more due to limited resources, but I would like to try again with this series sometime. But for now, I'll be sticking with Duel Monsters for the time being.
Edit: I forgot to active the effect for Kaibaman's voice.
Edit 2: Similar to Episode 70, add subs from GLLance's fansub in places where I couldn't get accurate translations or empty space along with translated opening and endings with the only thing I did was translate some characters names into English in the credits like Jaden and Chazz.
Edit 3: I decided to add in the Japanese name for Blue-Eyes' attack that was used in the Uncut Dub.

Wanted to give this scene a second shot. This time I used the Japanese dub instead of the French Dub which eliminated most of the desyncing issues I had with the French Dub. Most of the stuff is the same as the French dub so I won't be going over that. Me and Alys went ahead and translated the Eyecatches into English. For those who don't know, the International version of Sonic X removes all Japanese text from the Opening, Ending, Title Cards, and Eyecatches, which made this process a little easy since I didn't have to worry about getting rid of the text. The problem was this progress was never done before so we had to translate the Japanese text to understand what it was saying. This was the thing that took up the most time since we had to find a way to format it so that it's accurate to how it's display in the Japanese version while also incorporating it into the English Language and I say Alys did a pretty good job at it. I also trim it down because there was a long black screen behind cards and I felt it was unnecessary to have it.
The biggest oof out of this was Chris, Amy, and Tails' conversation because the English dub has a lot less lines than the Japanese version and we had to trim down Amy's dialogue because it did not match the lip flip so it went from "Step aside! I'll fix that robot!" to "Step Aside!".

This one was relevancy simple compare to my DM clips. Since most of the dialogue was faithful anyways, I just decided to make things more faithful like give Black Rose Dragon and Stardust Dragon's their synchro chants. I also fixed this error in the dub where Witch of the Black Rose was mistakenly called Witch of the Black Forest and I also add back in Akiza's line from DL about Yusei's power being by her side that was left out of the dub which I learn was what she said in the sub and it wasn't just a reference. I also added a surround reverb to Akiza's flashback since the dub left it as normal audio so I gave it the typical thought/flashback sound effect to match the sub that also had one. I also had to slice some lines for Yusei from CD for "Go, Aki." since the dub just kept it silent.

This was something I wanted to do earlier but my last video editor just couldn't live up to the job.
I wanted to try and make this closer to the Japanese script as possible, HOWEVER, I ran into a roadblock where the episode was NEVER subtitle so I couldn't do any script changes. I localize the Japanese title "Wakaba Town! The Town Where Winds Telling of a Beginning Blow!" to "New Bark Town! The Town Where Winds of a New Beginnings Blow!", I actually screwed up with the title, but it matches what Brock read off the sign in the episode so I decided to keep it. Another reason is because Wakaba Town was localize as New Bark Town in the English version of Pokemon Gold and Silver. Everything else is basically text based edit. The two "Dare Da" in this episode has the original Japanese name above it and the English name below it similar to Sonic X. Had to change the animation director to be Masaaki Iwane since he's the animation director for this episode. That, and, I pretty much took a guess at what "Chef Animation Director" meant.
I also wanna thank Alys who did the first Whip effect for the title card and the fading effect at the ending and SwordGuy17 for the English Credit.
Anyways, if any of you guys have a Japanese script on-hand or point in the direction of a sub version of this episode I would appreciate it because I would love to change the line of Misty guessing what time Ash slept-in.
