For Loop in Python
A for loop in python is used for iterating over a sequence (that is either a list, a tuple, a dictionary, a set, or a string).
This is less like the for keyword in other programming languages, and works more like an iterator method as found in other object-orientated programming languages.
With the for loop in python we can execute a set of statements, once for each item in a list, tuple, set etc.
Python for loop you'll learn to iterate over a sequence of elements using the different variations of for loop in python.
What is for loop in Python?
The for loop in Python is used to iterate over a sequence (list, tuple, string) or other iterable objects. Iterating over a sequence is called traversal.
Here, val is the variable that takes the value of the item inside the sequence on each iteration.
python for loop continues until we reach the last item in the sequence. The body of for loop in python is separated from the rest of the code using indentation.
for loop with else
A Python for loop can have an optional else block as well. The else part is executed if the items in the sequence used in for loop in python exhausts.
The break keyword can be used to stop a for loop in python. In such cases, the else part is ignored.
Hence, a for loops else part runs if no break occurs.
For Loops in python
There are two types of loops in Python, for and while.
The for loop
For loops iterate over a given sequence.
For loops can iterate over a sequence of numbers using the "range" and "xrange" functions. The difference between range and xrange is that the range function returns a new list with numbers of that specified range, whereas xrange returns an iterator, which is more efficient. (Python 3 uses the range function, which acts like xrange). Note that the range function is zero based.
Python for Loop Statements
It has the ability to iterate over the items of any sequence, such as a list or a string.
If a sequence contains an expression list, it is evaluated first. Then, the first item in the sequence is assigned to the iterating variable iterating_var. Next, the statements block is executed. Each item in the list is assigned to iterating_var, and the statement(s) block is executed until the entire sequence is exhausted.
