What can I say. Bombed two stages and pretty much took me out of the race. I had 5 other great stages with three stage wins but the two setbacks cost me 100+ points.
I don't usually load up my magazines to 29+1 because I don't want to stress my plastic grip and cause another crack but it was definitely useful for me in the 30 round Stage 2. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNTInlSPs3s
While my primary Open gun is at JPL for a new slide (coz I cracked it a month ago), I'm taking my backup Open gun out for a few matches. Guess what happened at this match? The slide cracked too, this time catastrophically. The split goes lengthwise across the locking lugs.
Guess I won't be shooting any matches for a few weeks, if not months.

You know what's important to this sport? It's the people. I was reminded of this today at our Renton Series Match. Without people, we would not have this sport, would not be able to spend our Sundays with friends shooting the shit and shooting shit.
If you want this sport to continue, I highly recommending getting involved with designing stages, helping to setup matches the day before, and becoming a Range Officer. You can find out more how to here: https://uspsa.org/pages/nroi/info

I came in to this match with a mental objective. I used to be so affected by shooters around me, times and places in the standings that I didn't get to shoot my game. I ended up shooting someone else's game and that caused me to falter in my execution.
This time round I managed to keep it sound. I enabled "match mode", and called my shots. If I had a bad stage, I mope and swear but leave it behind. If I had a good stage, I celebrate and laugh but leave it behind as well.
This allowed me to shoot my game and I'm very happy to be able to achieve 9th in Open. There were some stupid things I did but I knew exactly how I got them. I called all my mistakes and identified what caused them so I will not do it again.
It was a fun and fast match with lots of options. Thanks to the SLUSPSA guys for putting together this major match.
Shoutout to my squad mates, SQUAD 40, Super Squad... D.

Glad I made the trip up to Custer which is just short of the Canadian border. They ran two 2024 candidate classifiers which was pretty fun. One was a new take on the dreaded Can You Count and the other is an actual full 24 round field course where you get to shoot on the move without stopping. Hope they all make the new rotation soon.

Every year the different clubs in the section get together to run series matches where competitors can compete and gain points. At the end of the season, we tabulate all the points and declare section winners for the different divisions. This is our first series match and it was a really fun one. The stages were really fun to shoot.
