We heard from Quinn again! This time she raised almost $170 for us from her handmade temps that she sells! Wowowowow! Thank you Quinn! Of course as Susan tried to get some video of the letter and the bears...we had more uncooperative bears....which just makes this video funnier...poor Susan....haha! ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beWcU-uYKXg

Some of our beautiful little orphaned fawns. We now have 7 fawns in. We do still get calls just about EVERY single day from well meaning people that feel a fawn needs help that doesn’t Once again, i would like to remind you of the signs of a fawn in distress:
1. They will be up, walking in circles and screaming, crying, and bleating for HOURS (not just a few minutes) on end - this is them trying to call for their mother.
2. The tips of their ears will be curled and look shrunken or deformed.
3. Standing over, or laying DIRECTLY next to a dead doe. (Check doe for milk if you can, another sure sign).
Otherwise - PLEASE leave them alone. A fawn laying quietly is not “lethargic”, they are taught to stay still and quiet until mom comes back. Mothers do NOT stay with their fawns. They ONLY come once or twice in a 24 hours period, and USUALLY after dark. So a fawn alone is NOT a sign of a fawn in need. Please keep animals and children away from them. Mom usually moves them every 1-3 days.

The sound you hear in this video is bear purring! Jenny loves to suckle on Susan’s fingers, even though she is a 15 year old bear. Suckling is a comforting thing that bears remember from their childhood and Jenny still loves to do it. The bear making the sound isn’t the one with Jim, but Susan pans over to Jenny so you can see and hear it. In this video are Sonya, Jenny and Amy. All Syrian brown bears about 15 years old.

Susan’s phone automatically creates some adorable little videos! I’ve asked her to send me a few for posting.

Little Wilbur lost his home when the tree he was living in was cut down. Luckily a nice person found him and he made his way to us. This little squirrel is just about two weeks old. This video is of some of his very first formula feedings. Hope the little
guy makes it!!

While Jim continues to use Leo as his walker, instead of a cane or an ACTUAL walker post knee surgery I thought we could also answer your question of “what does Toaster think of the bears”? The answer is really that to Toaster, having bears around is just normal. You can see her here, on the other side of the fence. So bears are just “normal” for Jim and Susan and Toaster, while we just watch with our mouths open in shock.

Becky and Dan were released earlier this week (and I will post videos and pictures in the next day or so), but prior to that some fresh tree leaves were put into all their enclosures for some play and investigation. :)
Due to the crazy (and many rude and foul-mouthed) comments that are being posted here, we haver disabled comments for our channel. We have a VERY active Facebook page and we invite you to visit and share comments with us there. Also visit us on the web at orphanedwildlife.org
